A storm has been brewing within the Quintanilla family as A.B. Quintanilla III publicly announced plans to file legal action against his sister, Suzette Quintanilla, citing years of underlying family and financial tensions. However, amid intense online speculation and rampant tagging across social media platforms, one key figure is making his stance crystal clear: Chris Pérez is completely uninvolved.

The former Selena y Los Dinos guitarist and widower of the legendary Queen of Tejano Music took to social media to blast rumors, legal speculation, and self-proclaimed digital journalists attempting to drag him into the sibling fallout.

“This is me….NOT getting involved in any kind of legal capacity with either side,” Pérez stated bluntly. “Please, stop tagging me in your posts….that means you. These social media “reporter” guys are so lame…and (seemingly) getting fed false info like goldfish get fed their goldfish food. I hope they eat enough food that their bellies (BELLYS) explode!!!”

The Current Quintanilla Sibling Dispute

The rift between A.B. and Suzette erupted publicly after A.B. announced he was taking legal steps regarding Suzette’s fiduciary duties and decisions tied to family business operations and their late father, Abraham Quintanilla Jr. The producer and songwriter referenced years of accumulated friction, stating that recent circumstances forced him to step forward.

In response, Suzette and her mother, Marcella Quintanilla, issued a joint statement rejecting accusations of financial wrongdoing or mishandling of estate assets. They explicitly emphasized that no funds or property belonging to A.B., Abraham, Marcella, Chris Pérez, or Selena’s estate had been stolen or misappropriated.

Past Battles, Present Peace

While casual observers and Reddit threads have noted the family’s complex history, Pérez’s dynamic with the Quintanillas today is vastly different from past legal chapters.

  • The Historical Dispute: Following Selena’s tragic passing, Pérez signed an Estate Properties Agreement. Years later, he engaged in a multi-year court battle with family patriarch Abraham Quintanilla over rights to Selena’s estate regarding a proposed television series based on Pérez’s best-selling memoir, To Selena, With Love.
  • The 2021 Resolution: That legal feud was officially settled in September 2021. At the time, Pérez announced that he and the Quintanilla family had amicably resolved their differences, jointly agreeing to move forward with mutual respect while preserving Selena’s enduring legacy.

Unlike past battles, Pérez has maintained absolute distance from the current conflict between A.B. and Suzette. While social media algorithms and online commentary continue to lump the entire inner circle into the headline-grabbing drama, Chris Pérez remains firmly on the sidelines—and has no interest in playing a role in this latest chapter.
