Asalto has officially premiered the music video for its heartfelt new single, “Te Traigo En La Mente,” giving fans a visual companion to what frontman Jordan Rodriguez has described as one of the band’s most personal and emotionally driven recordings to date.
The music video debuted alongside the single on July 31, expanding on the emotional themes of love, loss, and longing that define the song. After teasing the project through social media reels in recent weeks, the full production is now available for fans to experience.
For Rodriguez, the video represents more than just another release—it’s the visual realization of a story rooted in real life.
The song originated from friend and songwriter Christopher Reyna, who initially shared the lyrics with Rodriguez not as a finished composition, but as a deeply personal account of an experience he was living through.
“When he gave it to me, it wasn’t really a song,” Rodriguez previously told Tejano Nation Radio host Romeo. “It was more of a storyline of a personal thing he was going through. He sent it to me and said, ‘Hey bro, I wrote this and I’m trying to make a song out of it. Could you help me out?'”
Rodriguez said the melody came to him almost immediately after reading Reyna’s words.
“Whenever Chris sent me the words, automatically the melody came to my head. It just flowed right in. It was definitely a blessing from God the way it flowed in for us.”
Wanting the lyrics to resonate authentically with listeners, Rodriguez brought in Edward Garza—the son-in-law of Tejano star Michael Salgado—to help refine the Spanish lyrics. The collaboration resulted in songwriting credits shared by Christopher Reyna, Jordan Rodriguez, and Edward Garza.
Bringing the emotion to the screen
Just as Rodriguez immersed himself emotionally while recording the vocals, the official music video aims to capture the same raw feeling that made the song so meaningful.
“It was actually a personal story of his,” Rodriguez said of Reyna. “Him trusting me to turn this into the song that it is has been amazing.”
While recording, Rodriguez intentionally placed himself in Reyna’s shoes to deliver a genuine performance.
“I put myself in his position. I asked myself what I would do if I were going through something like this. I let the emotion hit me. Once you hear the track and the chorus, you can really tell the emotion that went into it and everything we poured into it as a band.”
The music video continues that emotional journey through cinematic storytelling, visually reinforcing the heartbreak and vulnerability found throughout the song.
Familiar collaborators behind the camera
The official video reunites Asalto with longtime visual collaborators Michael and Julia Lopez of The Element, who once again transformed Rodriguez’s creative vision into reality. Longtime friend and vocalist Cristelo Valverde also appears in the production.
Rodriguez credited the entire creative team for helping shape the band’s growing catalog of music videos.
“Mike and Julia are part of the team. They always do an amazing job creating the vision that I have. It’s truly a team effort here at Asalto. I don’t take sole credit for anything we do because all of us contribute ideas and pour our love into this music.”

Continuing to define the Asalto sound
“Te Traigo En La Mente” also represents a new chapter sonically for Asalto. The band recorded the track at Neon Cactus Studios alongside engineer Cometa Lujan before turning to Danny Fender for mixing and mastering.
Rodriguez said the goal was to continue evolving while paying tribute to the artists who inspired him growing up.
“One thing I always do is pay homage to the bands that I grew up listening to—Siggno, Intocable, Solido, La Firma, Los Palominos. I try to incorporate those styles into one sound, and that’s what creates the Asalto sound.”
With the release of both the single and its official music video, Asalto continues building momentum while showcasing the heartfelt storytelling that has become a defining part of the band’s identity. For fans, “Te Traigo En La Mente” offers not only a memorable performance but an intimate glimpse into a real-life story transformed into song—and now, brought vividly to life on screen.
