The video, filmed at Pleasure Pier in Galveston, Texas, pairs the traditional Tejano ranchera with vibrant, modern visuals that Castillo says reflect the inspiration behind the collaboration with emerging vocalist Gabriella Flores.

“To me, it’s just a chill younger vibe,” Castillo told Tejano Nation. “When I was making the song, I had visions of young love, and wanted to blend the more traditional sound with fresh visuals we typically don’t see in Tejano. I feel the visuals are happy and we had a great time shooting the video!”

For Castillo, the setting carried a personal connection that helped shape the video’s concept.

“Back in the day I always wanted to go to carnivals and fall in love with girls I met that day at the carnival,” he said. “It was a blast working with Gabriella and Octavio Gonzalez, the director-videographer. We hope you enjoy the video.”

The music video arrives just days after the release of “Me Tienes Así,” an original Tejano ranchera that marked a stylistic shift for Castillo. While widely known for his energetic cumbias and contemporary sound, the Austin native returned to the traditional ranchera style that first inspired his musical journey.

Speaking previously with Tejano Nation Radio host Romeo, Castillo explained that the collaboration was inspired by Flores after hearing her perform at a family karaoke gathering.

“I met her a year ago,” Castillo said. “She sang for me… Incredible singer, incredible vocalist. I just fell in love with her sound.”

At the time, Castillo was already working on the song and immediately envisioned Flores as the perfect duet partner.

“I wanted to see what I could do to work together to come up with a song to boost her up, to bring her into the Tejano industry,” he said. “I really believe she’s next.”

A rising talent with deep musical roots

Flores, an emerging vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist from Lubbock, Texas, grew up immersed in music thanks to her father, a mariachi and Tejano singer. She continues performing alongside her family with Mariachi Mi Tierra, carrying on a tradition that has shaped her artistry.

A 2026 graduate of Texas Tech University with a degree in Marketing, Flores enters the music industry with both a strong musical foundation and an understanding of today’s independent artist landscape. Her music reflects her commitment to honoring her Latino heritage while bringing a fresh perspective to the next generation of Tejano artists.

Her traditional background made her an ideal fit for Castillo’s vision of recording a classic-style ranchera.

Interestingly, the song almost sounded very different.

“I originally recorded this song as a cumbia,” Castillo previously revealed. “I might release the cumbia as well. I’m not sure if I’m gonna release it or not, but I loved it as a cumbia. But then once I started making it into a ranchera, I actually liked it a little bit more, and then I put Gabriella on it, and I really like it. I hope people like it too.”

Blending tradition with modern storytelling

The newly released music video mirrors that same philosophy, combining the timeless sound of traditional Tejano with cinematic visuals rarely seen in the genre. From carnival rides to boardwalk strolls, the colorful scenery of Pleasure Pier creates a playful backdrop that reinforces the song’s youthful romance while introducing Flores to a wider audience.

Directed and filmed by Octavio Gonzalez, the visual highlights the chemistry between Castillo and Flores while offering fans a modern aesthetic that complements the song without losing sight of its traditional musical roots.

For longtime fans, “Me Tienes Así” represents another example of Castillo’s willingness to evolve creatively while remaining connected to the music that launched his career. Introduced to the accordion by his grandfather at age 10, Castillo began performing professionally at 13 and earned Best New Male Artist at the 2010 Tejano Music Awards following his debut album Who I Am. His 2014 album Sin Límites reached No. 15 on Billboard’s Latin Pop Albums chart, cementing his place among Tejano’s leading contemporary artists.

With the release of the “Me Tienes Así” music video, Castillo not only delivers a feel-good visual experience but also continues his mission of spotlighting the next generation of Tejano talent. For Flores, the collaboration serves as another major step in what promises to be a bright future, while for fans, it’s a refreshing blend of classic Tejano music and modern storytelling.
