Frontera Fest Canceled Days Before Scheduled Rio Grande Valley Debut

HARLINGEN, Texas — Frontera Fest, a three day outdoor music festival scheduled for September 11 through 13 in Harlingen, has been canceled just days before its scheduled opening.The festival was promoted as a large scale Rio Grande Valley event featuring regional Mexican music, country hits, carnival rides and games, local food vendors and refreshments.

Tejano Nation spoke directly with Luis “Louie” Guillen, founder, director and CEO of Frontera Fest, who confirmed that the entire festival has been canceled.

Guillen is also the owner of LG3 Promotions, Bookings & Management, which produces entertainment events throughout the Rio Grande Valley. He has been involved in the festival’s artist bookings, event coordination and overall production.

Festival Canceled

Guillen confirmed to Tejano Nation News that Frontera Fest will not take place on its originally scheduled dates. At the time of the conversation, Guillen was working to notify the artists involved and respond to calls regarding the cancellation. He said he had learned of the cancellation that morning and was actively contacting those affected.

The cancellation comes after a significant financial investment had already been made in producing the festival. According to Guillen, the festival’s major headliners had already been paid in full, adding to the financial impact of the cancellation. The cancellation affects numerous people involved in the production, including artists, musicians, vendors, production personnel and ticket holders.

The lineup included artists like Xavi, Pee Wee, Milla 22, South TX Homies, and more.

Guillen also spoke about the personal difficulty of canceling an event into which he had invested significant time, resources and effort.

An official statement was released via social media, “It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Frontera Fest 2026 has been officially canceled due to circumstances beyond the control of the promoters.”

”We have worked tirelessly to make this festival a reality and bring something truly special to our community,” the statement continued. “We are deeply sorry to everyone who worked alongside us, supported us, purchased tickets, became a vendor, partnered with us, or helped make Frontera Fest possible.

We sincerely apologize for the disappointment and appreciate everyone who believed in this vision and stood behind us throughout this journey.”

Full Ticket Refunds to Be Issued

For fans who purchased tickets, Guillen confirmed that full refunds will be issued through the festival’s ticketing company.According to Guillen, the ticketing company handles all ticket transactions, and refunds will be processed automatically.

Ticket holders should monitor their email and the payment method associated with their ticket purchase for information regarding their refund.
