As the Tejano and conjunto community prepares to say goodbye to one of its most beloved groups, Impozzible has announced a special farewell benefit concert set for Sunday, June 7, at The Hangout Sports Bar in South Houston, Texas.
The emotional all-day event will serve as both a celebration of the band’s legendary career and a fundraiser for Lawrence Torres, who continues to battle a worsening case of multiple sclerosis. Doors open at noon, with free food, live music on two stages, and performances from some of the biggest names in conjunto and Tejano music.
Scheduled performers include Impozzible, Los 4 Aces, Elijah Ezequiel, Conjunto X, Lazaro Perez, Conjunto Romo, Boni Mauricio y Los Maximos, Conxizion, and Grupo Enlaze. All proceeds from the event will be donated directly to Lawrence Torres.
The farewell benefit will take place at The Hangout Sports Bar, located at 1806 Houston Blvd. in South Houston.
Bobby Torres of Impozzible shared the heartfelt announcement on social media, expressing how meaningful the final show will be for the band and their supporters.
“The date is set..As hard is this will be to do ,this last show for us will mean alot to us and everyone involved.. It will be an all day event 2 stages free food and live music!! Mark your calendars get ready will be getting with bands that are able to help out !! Alot of great memories throughout the years and this one will be another added to the list!!” Bobby wrote.
The announcement follows an emotional Facebook Live broadcast in March where Bobby and Lawrence Torres revealed that Impozzible would officially disband after more than three decades together due to Lawrence’s declining health.
“So we’re here today because we do have a big announcement to make and it’s one of the biggest ones that we’ve ever had to make in our life,” Bobby said during the livestream. “As you know, my brother’s been sick for a while with his MS… he’s been fighting and fighting… but it’s getting worse.”
Bobby revealed that recent medical evaluations showed alarming progression in Lawrence’s condition.
“He got an MRI done… come to find out he has at least 15 to 20 lesions in his brain that are spreading… his speech is going to get worse, his memory… all that’s going to come,” Bobby shared. “Rather than me being selfish and wanting him to continue to play, I gave him an option.”
That difficult conversation ultimately led to the end of Impozzible as fans have known it for decades.
“There’s no Impozzible without Lawrence. There’s no Impozzible without Bobby. Impozzible is Bobby and Lawrence—it always will be,” he emphasized.
For Lawrence Torres, bajo player and vocalist, the moment was equally emotional as he reflected on a lifetime of music with his brother.
“I didn’t think this was going to get better… it’s just getting worse for me,” Lawrence said. “This is all I got left… me and my brother have been together for many years doing what we’re doing.”
Looking back at their legacy, Lawrence added, “We had a hell of a run… but before it gets worse, we got to stop it.”
Known for their clean, hard-hitting conjunto sound, the Houston-based group released nine albums throughout their career and built a loyal fanbase across Texas and beyond. Their music, brotherhood, and dedication to the genre helped cement their place in Tejano and conjunto history.
Despite the heartbreaking circumstances, Bobby and Lawrence confirmed they will complete their remaining performances before officially stepping away from the stage.
“It’ll be a big show—an all-day, all-night deal,” Bobby said previously. “We’re going to go out with a bang.”
Following the final performance, Bobby plans to focus on family before eventually returning to music in some capacity, though he made it clear the Impozzible name will retire alongside the duo’s live career.
“I will not continue Impozzible without Lawrence,” Bobby said. “But I will dedicate the rest of my playing years to him.”
As fans prepare to gather in South Houston for one final celebration, the farewell concert promises to honor not only the music of Impozzible, but also the enduring bond between two brothers whose impact on conjunto music will never be forgotten.
