Three-time Grammy Award winner and Tejano music icon Rubén Ramos has unveiled his long-awaited new studio album, Los Días de Calor, marking another milestone in a career that has spanned more than seven decades.
Released May 8, 2026 through Cosmica Artists, the 10-track collection showcases the legendary singer’s signature blend of Tejano, soul, country, mariachi, and border music traditions while offering a deeply personal reflection on his life, artistry, and cultural roots.
Widely known as the “Tony Bennett of Tejano,” the 86-year-old vocalist continues to bridge generations and genres with a timeless sound that helped shape contemporary Latin music alongside pioneers such as Selena, Emilio Navaira, Lydia Mendoza, and Isidro Lopez.
To celebrate the album’s release, Ramos revisits the country classic “Crying Time,” originally written by Buck Owens and famously recorded by Ray Charles. The bilingual rendition features acclaimed singer-songwriter and violinist Carrie Rodriguez, who also co-produced the album alongside Arizona-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Sergio Mendoza.
Another standout collaboration comes on “Cruz de Madera,” a fresh take on the ranchera anthem popularized by Michael Salgado. Ramos joins fellow Grammy winner Rick Fuentes on the track, celebrating the deep connection between Mexican and American cultures.

Raised in Sugar Land, Texas, among cotton fields and family jam sessions, Ramos developed a sound rooted in traditional Mexican folklore and the Chicano rock movement of the 1960s. That musical identity remains front and center throughout Los Días de Calor, which combines vintage Tejano with sierreño intimacy, mariachi textures, and modern arrangements.
The album also features contributions from members of Calexico, including drummer John Convertino and trumpeter Jacob Valenzuela. Additional guest appearances include Gaby Moreno.
Executive produced by Austin-based arts organization Laboratorio Arts, the project serves as a meditation on Ramos’ enduring legacy — from his groundbreaking work with The Mexican Revolution to his Grammy-winning contributions with Los Super Seven.
Over the course of his decorated career, Ramos has earned three Grammy Awards, including Best Tejano Album for Viva La Revolucion with The Mexican Revolution in 2009 and Best Regional Roots Album for his contribution to A Tribute to the King of Zydeco. He has also been inducted into the Tejano Music Awards Hall of Fame, the Tejano Roots Hall of Fame, and the Pura Vida Hall of Fame.
With Los Días de Calor, Ramos continues introducing his unmistakable voice and cultural legacy to a new generation of listeners while staying firmly connected to the traditions that made him one of Tejano music’s most enduring figures.
