Rising Tejano and mariachi powerhouse Daniella Ramírez is stepping confidently into a new era of her career — and she’s bringing her roots, versatility, and star power along for the ride.
In a recent interview with Tejano Nation radio affiliate Super Tejano 102.1 FM, morning host Mando San Roman sat down with the McAllen native to discuss her musical journey, major career milestones, and her latest single, “Nuevo Capítulo.”

From the very beginning, Ramírez’s path in music felt almost destined — even if it started in the most humble way.
“I come from a mariachi background… I started in music very, very young. It was my first love,” she shared. “I would say like around maybe six years old.”
Interestingly, her musical spark didn’t come from a long lineage of performers, but rather from everyday moments at home.
“It just started off with house cleanings… and I would start to sing,” Ramírez recalled. “My mom would be like, ‘Hold up, she can kind of carry a tune,’ and she’s really the one that pushed me.”
That encouragement led her to local talent shows and eventually into her high school mariachi program — a turning point that would shape her future.
By just 15 years old, Ramírez achieved a major milestone, winning the prestigious Mariachi Extravaganza vocal competition in San Antonio.
“It was something that I absolutely was not expecting,” she said. “But really from there, that is where I decided the route that I wanted to go musically… doing Spanish or regional Mexican.”
Her career trajectory continued upward, eventually leading to a life-changing opportunity: working alongside Chris Pérez, legendary guitarist of Selena y Los Dinos, and producer Robert “Bobbo” Gómez.
After being scouted and signed to a label in the Rio Grande Valley, Ramírez’s team reached out to Pérez — and the response came quickly.
“Lo and behold, Bobbo actually ended up responding… and he goes, ‘Yeah, bring her over,’” she said.
The experience of meeting Pérez was surreal for the young artist, who grew up inspired by Selena.
“I totally was [fangirling], but I had to play it cool,” she laughed. “It was nerve-wracking, also surreal… but he truly is one of the most humble people that you will ever meet.”
Now signed as the first artist under Blue Mariachi Productions, Ramírez is learning from industry veterans while carving out her own identity.
Her latest single, “Nuevo Capítulo,” represents exactly that — a fresh start.
“Yes, I would say so,” she said when asked if the song marks a new chapter. “We have a lot of music in the vault… and all of it is very versatile.”
That versatility is key to her artistic vision. While she remains deeply connected to her mariachi roots, Ramírez is embracing a wide range of sounds.
“We’re going to have a lot of like Norteño, cumbia pop… corrido tumbado… mariachi Norteño fusions,” she explained. “I really think that each of those is a reflection of me.”
Her impressive résumé also includes unforgettable performances, such as opening at the iconic Hollywood Bowl during Mariachi USA.
“It seats about 30,000 people… the stage does a complete 360 rotation,” she said. “When we started playing, the stage started rotating towards the people… it was a beautiful experience.”
Looking ahead, Ramírez has big goals — from releasing multiple albums to touring and earning international recognition.
“In five years, I hope I have a couple of albums out… hope I’m touring,” she said. “I would love to have the approval of Mexico… and expand internationally.”
With accolades already under her belt — including Best Female Vocalist of the Year at the All Star Music Awards and major wins at Premios Tejano Mundial — Ramírez is well on her way.
And as her career continues to rise, she remains grounded in the passion that started it all.
“I want to incorporate my mariachi background because that’s where I come from… I love it so much,” she said.
With “Nuevo Capítulo” setting the tone and a vault full of music ready to go, Daniella Ramírez is proving that her story is only just beginning.
