“So the cat is out of the bag and you might as well hear it from me. I’ve been pretty quiet lately. The truth is I’ve been in the hospital,” Stevie D wrote. “Suffered some pretty rare strokes (2) in terms of the part of my brain that has been affected. I’m optimistic and I’m now feeling a lot better.”

Despite the frightening ordeal, the singer’s message was filled with gratitude and faith as he acknowledged the overwhelming support from fans and loved ones.

“I ask you for prayers at this time. I appreciate all the messages and the concern from y’all! Simply the best feeling in the world to know so many people care,” he added.

Stevie D shared that doctors expect him to remain hospitalized through at least mid-to-late Monday as he continues his recovery. Known for his high-energy personality, he admitted the experience has forced him to slow down and reflect.

“If you know me I’m not one to stay still at all. But I know that this is a calling from God so I’m gonna take my time and get better. A major reset for me! WATCHOUT! I’m coming back.”

The health update comes at a pivotal moment in his career. The Tejano standout recently announced an exciting new collaboration with Grammy-winning producer Eddie Perez, unveiling 3rd Row Revival, a genre-blending project that merges the roots of Tejano with the storytelling spirit of country music.

Known for emotionally driven hits like “Adonde Me Llevas,” “Porque Tu,” and “Irremediable,” Stevie D has built a loyal following through his heartfelt lyrics, powerful vocals, and magnetic stage presence. His journey began as a backup vocalist for Joe Lopez y La Nueva Imagen Mazz before stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist.

His debut album De Repente introduced fans to his signature sound, while Ahora Sigo Yo propelled him to new heights, earning multiple honors at the Tejano Music Awards, including Best New Male Artist, Song of the Year, and Video of the Year. In 2021, he was recognized as Male Vocalist of the Year—solidifying his place among the genre’s elite voices.

Blending traditional Tejano roots with contemporary influences, Stevie D has remained a dynamic force in the scene—and if his message is any indication, he’s not slowing down anytime soon.

For now, fans across the Tejano world are united in support, sending prayers and well wishes as he focuses on healing—ready for the moment he steps back into the spotlight.
