The Tejano music community is rallying around award-winning vocalist Stevie D after he revealed a serious health scare that led to his recent hospitalization.
Over the weekend, the beloved singer-songwriter took to social media to share a candid update with fans, confirming he had suffered two rare strokes affecting a specific part of his brain.
“So the cat is out of the bag and you might as well hear it from me. I’ve been pretty quiet lately. The truth is I’ve been in the hospital,” Stevie D wrote. “Suffered some pretty rare strokes (2) in terms of the part of my brain that has been affected. I’m optimistic and I’m now feeling a lot better.”
Despite the frightening ordeal, the singer’s message was filled with gratitude and faith as he acknowledged the overwhelming support from fans and loved ones.
“I ask you for prayers at this time. I appreciate all the messages and the concern from y’all! Simply the best feeling in the world to know so many people care,” he added.
Stevie D shared that doctors expect him to remain hospitalized through at least mid-to-late Monday as he continues his recovery. Known for his high-energy personality, he admitted the experience has forced him to slow down and reflect.
“If you know me I’m not one to stay still at all. But I know that this is a calling from God so I’m gonna take my time and get better. A major reset for me! WATCHOUT! I’m coming back.”
