
The top five nominees for Video of the Year at the 40th annual Tejano Music Awards were announced on Wednesday (Dec. 16).
Shelly Lares added to her five nominations for this year’s TMAs. “Little Miss Dynamite” continues to lead all nominees with six as her duet with Anjelique, “Yo Te Extrañare,” was nominated for Video of the Year. The emotional song also received a nomination for Collaboration of the Year at the 39th Tejano Music Awards in 2019.
Monica Saldivar added her third nomination for 2020 as the video for “Me & My Girlfriend,” the collaboration with Austin-based high energy cumbia group Cinco Doce, was a nominee for top video. Saldivar is also nominated for Best New Female Artist and Best New Group with her band.
Other nominees for Video of the Year include “Amor, Amor” from Selia featuring DJ Kane, “El Primer Tonto” from Stevie D, and “La Vida Es Justa, the collaboration from Los Chamacos and Juan Carlos Villegas from Grupo Negami.
Winners will be announced during the 40th annual Tejano Music Awards on Saturday, December 19, 2019, during a virtual live-streamed event at TejanoMusicAwards.com, along with Fierro HD and Radio.com featuring new performances and classic performances over the past 39 years.

“Amor, Amor” — Selia featuring DJ Kane
DJ Kane and Selia of Luis Xavier Y Diamante teamed for the romantic cumbia “Amor, Amor.” The black and white visual was directed by J. Hernz.
“El Primer Tonto” — Stevie D
The visual for “El Primer Tono,” produced by The Element, features Stevie D trying to win the affection of a woman, as he secretly becomes her waiter in order to meet the beauty and invite her to a party later that night. The video features a cameo from 13-time Grammy winner Gilbert Velasquez, who produced the song.
“La Vida Es Justa” — Los Chamacos featuring Juan Carlos Villegas
Los Chamacos partnered with Juan Carlos Villegas of Negami for the Conjunto ranchera “La Vida es Justa.” The video was produced and directed by Ray Bueno.
“Me & My Girlfriend” — Cinco Doce featuring Monica Saldivar
Cinco Doce returned “Me & My Girlfriend” featuring Monica Saldivar, a bilingual cumbia remake of two hip hop songs, “Me and My Girlfriend,” the 1996 hit song from Tupac, and “Bonnie & Clyde 03” from Jay-Z featuring Beyonce, released in 2002. The visual was filmed and edited by Ryan Bazan and produced by Jay Moya of Cinco Doce.
“Yo Te Extrañare” — Anjelique featuring Shelly Lares
“Yo Te Extrañare” is the duet from Anjelique and Shelly Lares. The emotional collaboration meant so much to the duo sharing a special bond as both singers had recently lost their fathers, who were instrumental in each of their careers. The video was directed by Ryan Bazan.
