Tejano Hall of Fame songwriter and musician Pepe Sanchez has passed away, according to a report.
KUVA 102.3 FM in Uvalde, Texas broke the news on the station’s Facebook page early Sunday. No other information was given.
Sanchez had quadruple heart bypass surgery and serious foot surgery in September 2017. According to a source, he was recently in hospice care for cancer.
The legendary songwriter and musician was an integral part of Tejano music history, penning hit songs from as early as the 1970s for many artists now considered Tejano music legends. He wrote songs for Freddie Martinez, Augustin Ramirez, Ramon Ayala, Hugo Guerrero, Los Aguilares and more.
