Just days after releasing his sophomore album, Realizando Sueños, Ricky Valenz was awarded “Best Male Performer” at the 2015 San Antonio Nightlife Awards on Monday night.
“Feels great to be recognized by friends and peers in the SA nightlife scene,” Valenz told Tejano Nation. “Moving from Michigan here to the “#210 Tone” three to four years ago it was the one thing early on that I noticed, the people the energy and the culture, the night scene is pretty special. Since then I have met many great promoters and club owners along with friends that make the night scene what it is here in SA, and now to be recognized as “Best Performer” 2015 and also to represent “Tejano Music” in the category of many genres at SA Nightlife awards was even greater.”
Since arriving in San Antonio from Michigan, Valenz has taken the Tejano industry by storm. The “Esperandote” singer has won three Tejano Music Awards, including “Best New Male of the Year” in 2012 and “Male Vocalist of the Year” and “Vocal Duo of the Year” with Lupe Moreno in 2013.
The SA Nightlife Awards has honored the best of the Alamo City’s nightlife and culture since 2013. The 2015 edition was held at Hooligan’s Bar & Grill and benefit the Toys For Tots campaign. Award winners were chosen via online voting on social media.
