BROWNSVILLE, Texas — Brownsville singer-songwriter Cleiri is turning heartbreak into a danceable experience with the release of her new original single, “Huir.”
Written by Cleiri Quezada, the Spanish-language track blends the emotional depth of a traditional norteño ballad with the infectious rhythms of cumbia, creating a song that explores the difficult decision to walk away from a relationship when love has faded.
Told from a woman’s perspective, “Huir” begins with a heartfelt norteño-style introduction before transitioning into an upbeat cumbia arrangement. The song captures the pain of trying to save a relationship while recognizing that sometimes letting go is the kindest choice for both people.
“Sometimes we hold on because we’re afraid of what happens when we let go, even when we know there’s nothing left to save,” Cleiri said. “I wanted to write about that moment when you realize you’ve done everything you could. It’s painful, but there’s also freedom in accepting that something is over. And I love that you can dance to this song even though the message is bittersweet.”
Inspired in part by the emotional vulnerability of Adele’s “Easy on Me,” Cleiri developed an original composition with its own lyrical narrative and musical direction, drawing from the sounds of South Texas and regional Mexican music.
The result brings together two contrasting emotions: the sadness of a love that has run its course and the rhythmic energy of cumbia, offering listeners a song they can connect with emotionally while still enjoying on the dance floor.
Cleiri Continues Building Her Career in Tejano and Regional Mexican Music
An independent singer-songwriter, performer and storyteller from Brownsville, Cleiri has been developing a musical identity that combines cumbia, regional Mexican influences and personal storytelling.
Her career includes an appearance on the nationally televised talent competition Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento, recognition at the Brownsville Music Legacy Awards and a Female Vocalist of the Year nomination at the Guadalupe Awards in San Antonio.
Her original song “La Distancia” also earned chart recognition and radio airplay in the Tejano music market, helping introduce her music to a broader audience.
Beyond her recordings, Cleiri has established a growing digital presence, with a combined social media following of more than 200,000 across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. She also connects with audiences through her bilingual platform, Cleiri The Show, which reflects her interest in music, storytelling and engaging with fans.
Cleiri currently performs as a vocalist for Latin recording artist Peewee while continuing to develop her own music and pursue opportunities as a solo artist.
With “Huir,” she continues exploring the emotional experiences behind relationships while pairing those stories with rhythms rooted in the musical traditions of South Texas.
“Huir” is an original release that reflects Cleiri’s approach to songwriting: telling personal, relatable stories while creating music that connects with listeners through the familiar sounds of cumbia and regional Mexican music.
