SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The Totally Tejano Hall of Fame & Museum is preparing for a special evening celebrating one of the most recognizable and beloved voices in Tejano music as Stefani Montiel is honored with an exhibit induction on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
The museum will welcome fans, family, friends and members of the Tejano music community for an evening dedicated to Montiel’s remarkable career and lasting contributions to the genre. Personal artifacts from the celebrated singer and songwriter will be added to the museum’s collection, helping preserve an important chapter of Tejano music history for future generations.
The special event begins at 7 p.m. at the Totally Tejano Hall of Fame & Museum, located at 1414 Fredericksburg Road in San Antonio. Admission is free, with donations welcomed.
More than a museum exhibit, the evening will serve as a celebration of Montiel’s music, career and legacy. Emerging as a major force in Tejano music during the 1990s, Montiel became known for a progressive sound that helped push the genre into new musical territory by incorporating elements of pop, cumbia and urban rhythms.
Over the course of her multi-decade career, Montiel has earned recognition as one of Tejano music’s influential female performers. Her accomplishments include inductions into the Tejano Roots Hall of Fame and the New Mexico Music Hall of Fame, further cementing her place in Tejano history.
A Career Defined by Musical Innovation
Montiel’s recording career includes major-label releases with Sony Music, including her 1994 album Te Voy Enamorar. Her extensive discography has continued to evolve throughout the years, showcasing her ability to adapt while maintaining her connection to Tejano music.
Her album La Dueña earned the 2017 Tejano Music Awards Album of the Year honor, while her more recent work includes the 2025 EP Seguiré, featuring songs such as “Nada” and “Kissitos.”
Montiel has also repeatedly received recognition at the Tejano Music Awards, including honors and nominations associated with Female Vocalist of the Year and Female Entertainer of the Year.
Her career has additionally included Grammy and Latin Grammy recognition, both as a solo performer and as a member of the acclaimed Tejano supergroup Las 3 Divas, alongside fellow Tejano stars Shelly Lares and Elida Reyna.

Preserving Tejano Music History
The exhibit induction gives fans an opportunity to see pieces connected directly to Montiel’s career while ensuring that those artifacts remain part of the larger story of Tejano music.
Museums such as the Totally Tejano Hall of Fame & Museum play an important role in preserving the history of the artists, musicians and cultural figures who have helped shape the sound and identity of Tejano music.
For Montiel, the induction represents another milestone in a career that has spanned decades and connected with generations of Tejano fans throughout Texas and beyond.
Her progressive approach to Tejano has also been closely connected to her musical partnership with her husband, acclaimed producer and musician Gabriel Zavala, who produces Montiel’s music through Zavala Music.
