Jenny B is stepping confidently into her next chapter.
The reigning Best New Female Artist at the 45th Tejano Music Awards has dropped a teaser for her upcoming single, “Soy Como Soy,” just one day before its official release on Friday, July 10. The song marks the latest preview from her highly anticipated sophomore album and serves as the follow-up to her award-winning debut album, Mujer Sensual.
The teaser has already generated excitement among fans eager to hear the next evolution of the rising Tejano star, who continues to blend tradition with a fresh, modern perspective.
Speaking with Tejano Nation, Jenny B said the song carries a powerful message of self-confidence and authenticity in an industry where female artists are often judged by unrealistic expectations.
“I’m sooo excited to release my next single called ‘SOY COMO SOY’!! As a female in the music industry people always have their opinions on what a female artist should act, look and sound like,” Jenny B shared.
“‘Soy como soy’ written by Jose Luis Garcia and produced by ClefGod is a message to the haters that if you don’t like what you see, change the channel. If you don’t like what you hear, change the radio because at the end of the day I’m going to be me and do what I love no matter what others may think.”
She added that the song captures the energy she wants to bring to today’s Tejano scene.
“I’m not doing anything but bringing something fun and exciting to the Tejano scene with a splash of South Texas cumbia and accordion!! I hope everyone has fun with this song and feel the powerful message behind it!!”
A new era as “La Tejana Barbie”
“Soy Como Soy” also represents a defining moment in Jenny B’s artistic evolution as she embraces her new identity as “La Tejana Barbie.”
More than a nickname, the branding reflects confidence, individuality, and empowerment, particularly for women who embrace their own unique style while staying true to their roots.
While Mujer Sensual leaned heavily into traditional Tejano sounds, Jenny B says her upcoming sophomore album intentionally expands the genre’s possibilities.
“I respect keeping Tejano the way it is 110 percent,” she explained. “But I also feel like that’s what’s keeping new people away because it feels outdated. I want to bring some fun, some color, some sexiness—something fresh. Something TikTok-friendly. The goal is to keep Tejano alive.”
Her vision isn’t about replacing tradition—it’s about helping the genre evolve and connect with a younger generation discovering Tejano music through social media and streaming platforms.
A movement, not just a brand
Jenny B says “La Tejana Barbie” is designed to be inclusive rather than exclusive.
“Anybody can be a Tejana Barbie,” she said. “You don’t need to be cookie-cutter. If you’re from Texas, you work hard, love your family, and you’re a strong woman who still looks amazing—you’re a Tejana Barbie. Another word for baddie.”
That message of confidence and authenticity is at the heart of “Soy Como Soy,” a song encouraging listeners to ignore criticism and unapologetically be themselves.
With another bold single on the way and a sophomore album promising fresh sounds, vibrant visuals, and an unmistakable South Texas flavor, Jenny B appears poised to build on the momentum that earned her one of Tejano music’s top newcomer honors.
“Soy Como Soy” will be available on all digital streaming platforms beginning Friday, July 10.
