San Antonio, TX — Two acclaimed voices in Latin music have joined forces for a captivating new collaboration that blends heartfelt storytelling with contemporary mariachi. Latin Grammy nominee Isabel Marie Sanchez and Latin Grammy winner Roger Velásquez have released “Tabú,” a powerful new single available now through independent record label VDiscos.
“Tabú” tells the story of an impossible love, exploring the emotional complexities of a relationship that cannot be. Through their passionate vocal performances, Sanchez and Velásquez bring the song’s bittersweet narrative to life, drawing listeners into a world of longing, desire, and forbidden romance.
The contemporary mariachi track is based on an original composition written by Roger Velásquez and Juan Carlos Peña Jr., professionally known as Yeisi. Velásquez also handled the musical and lyrical arrangements, helping shape the song’s modern mariachi sound while preserving its traditional emotional depth.
Adding to the production’s authenticity, veteran arranger Robert Casillas crafted the mariachi arrangements, creating a rich musical backdrop that complements the song’s poignant message.
The recording process brought together an impressive team of industry professionals. “Tabú” was recorded at Blue Cat Studios in San Antonio, Texas, by five-time Grammy Award-winning recording engineer Joe Treviño, alongside digital workstation engineer Mauro Castro. The track was later mastered by multi-Grammy Award winner Camilo Silva F. in Bogotá, Colombia, delivering a polished final product for VDiscos.
The collaboration highlights the artistic chemistry between Sanchez and Velásquez, whose voices seamlessly intertwine throughout the song, elevating the emotional impact of the lyrics and melody.
With its universal theme of forbidden love and a contemporary mariachi sound that bridges generations, “Tabú” is poised to resonate with fans across the globe. The single is currently available in 63 countries through major digital music platforms and social media services.
Fans can stream and download “Tabú” now on their favorite digital music platform.
