Grupo Zodiacal may be one of the youngest acts making waves in Tejano and Conjunto music today, but the talented teenagers from west Texas, are proving that age is just a number.
During a recent appearance on The Bo Corona Show, the rising group introduced themselves to listeners across Texas and shared the story behind their formation, musical journey, and latest original single, “Ven.”
The band consists of five young musicians: 15-year-old lead vocalist and accordionist Salomé López, his twin brother Dom López on bajo quinto, bassist and segunda vocalist Josiah Quiñonez, drummer Joe López, and guitarist Jaden Garza. While the group performs under the name Grupo Zodiacal, many fans also know the core trio of brothers as Hermanos Lopez.
“There’s five of us,” Salomé López explained during the interview. “I sing and play accordion for Grupo Zodiacal.”

The group hails from the small West Texas community of Tahoka, located about 30 minutes from Lubbock, and has quickly gained attention for their traditional Conjunto sound inspired by legends such as Ramón Ayala, Intocable, Solido, Grupo Secretto, and Los Palominos.
While many young musicians dream of stardom, Salomé revealed that his earliest inspiration came much closer to home.
“Even though he didn’t play music, my grandfather was a huge role model to me,” López said. “He always had an accordion sitting in his pool room. Whenever we’d go stay the night, I’d sneak off and look at it. I was scared to touch it because I thought it would break, but I always imagined myself playing it.”
That fascination eventually turned into reality. Salomé taught himself accordion at age 10 using an app on his phone before receiving his first instrument from his father. He later sharpened his skills by learning songs from icons like Ramón Ayala and Intocable.
His musical path took a major turn during a visit to Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair in San Antonio, where he met Grupo Asalto frontman Jordan Rodriguez. The encounter led to opportunities to perform alongside the group and gain valuable stage experience.
Joe López also credits Grupo Asalto for helping shape his musical development. Before becoming Zodiacal’s drummer, he worked around the band’s equipment during performances.
“We would tour with Grupo Asalto and I used to be a drum tech,” Joe recalled. “Once we were done setting up the drums, I would start playing them. David, the drummer for Grupo Asalto, would teach me little by little, and over time I picked it up.”
Originally performing under Salomé López’s name, the young musicians eventually decided they wanted an identity that represented everyone in the band.
“I didn’t want it to just be Salomé López,” he said. “I wanted everybody to be a part of the band. Anthony Perez came up with the name Grupo Zodiacal, and we all liked it.”
The band’s momentum reached a new level in early 2026 with the release of their first original single, “Ven.” Written by acclaimed songwriter Jose Luis Garcia, the track has quickly become a fan favorite.
“Jose Luis Garcia has written many great songs,” López explained. “We reached out to him to write us a song and he sent us ‘Ven.’ We all fell in love with it and tried to do it justice in the studio. The song is really, really special to us.”
