Veteran Tejano artist Araceli Fuentes is making a powerful return with her latest single, “Los Pagos,” a heartfelt cumbia that shines a spotlight on the realities of working hard, paying bills, and pushing through financial struggles with strength and faith.
Driven by an infectious Tejano cumbia rhythm and deeply relatable lyrics, “Los Pagos” speaks directly to the everyday experiences of countless families trying to make ends meet. With lines like, “Cada día trabajo, trabajo, trabajo… cada cheque que me entregan ya lo tengo gastado,” Fuentes captures the emotional and financial pressure many hardworking people face while still finding the courage to keep moving forward.
The single blends traditional Tejano flavor with a modern message that resonates across generations, delivering both danceable energy and emotional honesty. “Los Pagos” is a reminder that music can entertain while also reflecting real life — something Fuentes has always embraced throughout her career.
Produced by Rick Fuentes and Araceli Fuentes, the song was written by Araceli Fuentes and Jose Guadalupe Fuentes. Together, they crafted a cumbia rooted in authenticity, community, and resilience.

Known as “La Artista de Pasión,” Araceli Fuentes has worn many hats throughout her impressive career. Beyond being a lead vocalist, songwriter, and producer, she has also served as a radio station administrator, promoter of Latin artists, and former co-owner of the legendary Baby Rocks Night Club and Ballroom at the historic Forest Theater in Dallas, Texas.
Fuentes is also widely recognized for her advocacy work as CEO of Tejano Artists United Fight Cancer (TAUFC), an organization founded on the mission, “Where Musicians heARTS Fight.” Through TAUFC, she has helped unite members of the Tejano music community to support artists and families affected by cancer while using music as a source of awareness, compassion, and hope.
Her journey in music began at just 19 years old when she formed her first band, Araceli y Aventura. Over the years, she built a reputation not only as a performer, but also as a driving force behind the scenes, championing Latin culture and supporting the growth of Tejano and regional Mexican music communities.
Although her time performing full-time on major stages slowed for a period, Fuentes never lost touch with her passion for music. She continued performing occasionally at her ballroom, keeping her artistry alive and maintaining a close connection with her audience.
Now, with renewed purpose and passion, Araceli Fuentes is fully embracing this new chapter in her musical journey. Since returning to the Rio Grande Valley, she has released several singles, including the cumbia “La Probadita” and the ranchera/chicana collaboration “Te Tengo Que Olvidar” featuring Rick Fuentes.
In addition to recording and performing, Fuentes remains committed to mentoring the next generation as a vocal coach, vocal performance coach, and stage confidence coach. Through education and mentorship, she continues preserving Latin music culture by sharing real-world experience, discipline, and performance knowledge with aspiring artists.
With “Los Pagos,” Araceli Fuentes once again proves that Tejano music remains one of the most authentic storytelling genres in Latin music — giving a voice to everyday struggles while inspiring listeners to keep pushing forward no matter what life brings.
