Tejano singer-songwriter Miguel Hernandez is tapping into raw emotion with his latest single, “Tengo Miedo de Perderte,” a moving new release that explores the fear of losing a true love or meaningful relationship.

Written and arranged by Hernandez himself, the song blends heartfelt lyrics with a fresh sonic direction that the artist says carries a subtle gospel-inspired feel — something noticeably different from his previous work.

Speaking with Tejano Nation Radio host Romeo, Hernandez opened up about the deeply personal nature of the track and the collaborative spirit behind the recording.

“It is a family affair, man,” Hernandez shared. “That’s the beautiful thing about this particular single, man, is that my wife and my daughter did the background vocal arrangement on it. And of course, Miguel is on drums, and I wrote the song, and my 11-year-old, my little rocker, my kid Depth, he did all the artwork for it.”

The single truly lives up to that family-centered vision. Amanda Hernandez and Giselle Hernandez contributed backing vocal arrangements, while Migz Hernandez handled drums. Hernandez himself performed bass, bajo, guitar, and synths, with accordion work provided by Ray Diaz DeLeon. The artwork for the release was designed by Noel Hernandez, further emphasizing the close-knit creative effort behind the project.

Recorded at R.A.W. Elements Music Group and mixed and mastered by Aaron Holller at Art of Holler Music, “Tengo Miedo de Perderte” delivers an emotional listening experience rooted in sincerity and vulnerability.

“It’s just another love song, talking about the fear of losing a loved one or a relationship,” Hernandez explained. “I kind of wanted to go with almost like a gospel vibe. So it sounds a little bit different, a lot different than something that I’ve done before.”

The response so far has been exactly what Hernandez hoped for.

“So far, the feedback that I’ve gotten on it is it’s a pretty touching song,” he said. “So I guess my plan worked.”

Although the single is newly released, Hernandez revealed that the song itself has been years in the making.

“It’s actually one of those songs that I kind of penned a long time ago,” he shared. “And I kind of came back to it and tried to finish it up. So that’s the end result.”
