The next chapter in a legendary Tejano lineage is about to unfold as Mike Gonzalez And The Iconiczz prepare to release their highly anticipated debut album with Freddie Records, The Legacy Continues. The 12-track project arrives on all digital platforms May 8, 2026, and is already generating buzz as one of the hottest Tejano releases of the year.
At the center of it all is Mike Gonzalez, a name deeply rooted in Tejano music history. As the son of late Tejano icon Jimmy Gonzalez, Mike spent nearly two decades touring and recording as drummer for Jimmy Gonzalez Y Grupo Mazz. During that time, he contributed to multiple Latin Grammy-winning and nominated projects, helping define a sound that continues to resonate with fans across generations.
Now stepping into his own spotlight, Mike’s Freddie Records debut album is both a personal tribute and a bold artistic statement.
The Legacy Continues features 12 brand-new tracks, including the lead single “Siempre Te Cuidaré,” a song that reflects the emotional depth and musical heritage behind the project. The album blends traditional Tejano roots with a fresh, energized approach—something Mike has been carefully crafting since his early days performing as a sixth grader.
Following the passing of his father in 2018, Mike made it his mission to preserve and evolve the unmistakable “Jimmy G sound.” That vision ultimately led to the formation of The Iconiczz, a group dedicated to honoring the past while pushing Tejano music forward.
“This is more than just an album—it’s a continuation of a legacy,” Gonzalez shared in a heartfelt message to fans. He announced the album’s release along with a special live “living room session” set for May 9, where the band will perform new tracks, classic Jimmy G hits, and fan requests across platforms like Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok.
The celebration will double as a Mother’s Day weekend party, complete with a backyard vibe and open invitation energy that reflects the close connection Mike maintains with his audience.
Gonzalez also took time to thank key collaborators, including Chris Perales and Mariano Herrera, for their dedication in bringing the album to life.
With The Legacy Continues, Mike Gonzalez And The Iconiczz aren’t just debuting a new album—they’re ushering in a new era for Tejano music, one rooted in tradition, driven by passion, and destined to carry a legendary sound into the future.
