Tejano standout AJ Castillo is turning up the heat just in time for Cinco de Mayo with the release of his infectious new cumbia, “¡ABRE, ABRE!,” featuring Los Morales, alongside an official music video that captures the spirit of celebration, friendship, and collaboration.

Written and arranged by AJ Castillo and Luis Angel Gonzalez, the track was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Anthony Perez at Redwood Studios in San Marcos, Texas. The result is a vibrant, dancefloor-ready anthem that blends Castillo’s signature Tejano sound with the rising regional Mexican energy of Los Morales.
Speaking with Tejano Nation Radio host Romeo, Castillo shared that the collaboration came together organically through mutual respect and admiration.
“Yeah, it’s a collaboration I just did with Los Morales. It’s a hot single, man,” Castillo said. “We became friends, and I like their style a lot. I wanted to work with them… we recorded the song, and it’s just in time for Cinco de Mayo — a good dance song, shots, and having a great time. That vibe is why I wanted to come out with it.”
The music video, filmed in Roma, Texas, brings that festive energy to life. Castillo described the experience as more than just a shoot—it was a true celebration.
“I shot the video with Los Morales in Roma, Texas. So I went down to the Valley. We hung out, we partied a little bit, had some carne asada, we barbecued, and then we shot the video. So it was a great time,” he said.

The connection between Castillo and Los Morales runs deeper than just this single. After reaching out to the group, both sides quickly realized the collaboration was meant to be.
“I sent them a message like, ‘Hey man, we ought to collaborate,’ and they hit me back saying they were big fans, naming my songs. I was like, ‘Well, let’s make something happen.’ And that’s what happened,” Castillo added.
“¡ABRE, ABRE!” marks the first in a series of upcoming releases as Castillo embraces a new strategy following his partnership with distribution company Colonize Media. Instead of dropping a full album, the artist will release new singles every four to six weeks, each accompanied by a music video.
“So I’m going to be releasing new music consistently to stay fresh in people’s minds,” Castillo explained.
The move reflects a growing trend in today’s music industry, allowing artists like Castillo to maintain momentum and continuously engage fans with new content.
With Los Morales—who continue to gain traction in the regional Mexican scene—joining forces, “¡ABRE, ABRE!” signals a powerful blend of styles and audiences. And if this first release is any indication, fans can expect a steady stream of hits from Castillo in the months ahead.
As the cumbia rhythms of “¡ABRE, ABRE!” begin to take over playlists and dance floors, one thing is clear: AJ Castillo is entering a bold new chapter—and he’s bringing the party with him.
