Tejano music fans are witnessing a heartfelt and inspiring return as Grammy-nominated recording artist Lizza Lamb steps back into the spotlight after a long hiatus, reintroducing herself with a message rooted in faith, resilience, and purpose.
After years away from the music scene—dedicated to raising her family and supporting her husband, Tejano recording star and producer Alex Montez—Lamb is making her comeback with a powerful Mariachi Gospel release titled “Si Dios Conmigo” (“If God Is With Me”), inspired by scripture and personal life experiences. The song’s central message echoes a timeless biblical truth: “If God is for me, who can be against me?”
Speaking to Latin Groove News, Lamb shared a deeply personal reflection behind her return:
“People may judge. They may whisper. They may label you by your lowest moment. They may ‘spit’ with words, shame, and rejection. But none of that outweighs the voice of God.”
Lamb is no stranger to the national and international stage. During the height of her career in the 1990s, she appeared on major platforms including Sábado Gigante, where she delivered a memorable Tejano rendition of “El Gorrión y Yo.”That era also brought her a Grammy nomination for her second album, Destino, in 1998, cementing her place in Tejano music history.
Originally from Alice, Texas, Lamb is known for fan-favorite songs such as “El Gorrión y Yo,” “Acuérdate De Mí,”and her work as the lead singer of the group Mestizo. Over the years, her music journey evolved to reflect her faith, resulting in projects like Renuévame (2010) and songs including “Te Busco Señor” and “Cuando Te Hizo Dios.”
Lamb opened up about the timing and meaning of her comeback:
“It’s been 30 years since Alex and I have been in the limelight. My second album was nominated, the single was nominated for a Grammy, and then I pushed pause because I just became a mom, I became a grandma, and all the works. I woke him up one morning and I said, ‘Hey, you ready to do a comeback?’ … I just released a new song two weeks ago, Si Dios Conmigo. The song was inspired by a life experience that I’ve been going through. I’m just sharing it with the world, and I’m excited.”
Producer Alex Montez added that the Mariachi influence behind the new single is deeply rooted in Lamb’s musical beginnings.
“This single has been released in a mariachi style because Lizza really started her music push in junior high with Mariachi Vargas at school. That passion never left her. Now it’s coming in mariachi, but it’s also coming in Tejano.”
According to a CBN.com feature, Lamb has openly shared her journey of overcoming a difficult upbringing and personal struggles through faith—an experience that now fuels her latest musical chapter.
“Si Dios Conmigo” is now available on all major digital music platforms and spinning at Tejano and Latin radio stations nationwide, marking not just a return to music, but a testimony set to song.
