The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has announced that regional‑Mexican titans Grupo Intocable will receive their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as part of the prestigious Class of 2026. Led by celebrated frontmen Ricky Muñoz and René Martínez, the chart‑dominating ensemble joins 35 luminaries from music, film, television, and sports who will be immortalized on Hollywood Boulevard next year.
A landmark honor for a genre‑defining band
Since forming in Zapata, Texas, in 1994, Intocable have redefined Norteño and Tejano music by marrying classic accordion‑driven rhythms with pop‑leaning hooks and heartfelt storytelling. The group’s 15 studio albums have earned diamond, platinum, and gold certifications across the U.S. and Latin America, while more than 50 singles have stormed the U.S. Latin radio charts. Their trophy case includes multiple GRAMMY and Latin GRAMMY awards—among them a GRAMMY for Best Norteño Album—as well as numerous Lifetime Achievement recognitions that underscore their enduring cultural influence.
Beyond the stage: NASCAR spotlight in Chicago
Intocable’s mainstream reach will be on full display this weekend when Ricky Muñoz serves as an honorary event official for the NASCAR Cup Series Chicago Street Race on July 6. Set against Grant Park’s iconic skyline, the role highlights Muñoz’s crossover appeal and NASCAR’s push to bring motorsports into major urban settings.
Cultural ambassadors with global resonance
From sold‑out arena tours to high‑profile collaborations, Intocable’s impact extends well beyond record sales. The band has been formally honored twice by the City of Los Angeles, as well as by the State of Texas and the City of San Antonio, for championing Mexican‑American musical traditions. Their songs—stories of love, loss, family, and hope—have resonated with millions and inspired a new generation of artists.
Looking ahead to the star ceremony
Specific ceremony dates for the Class of 2026 will be announced by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in the coming months. When Intocable’s name is unveiled on the famous terrazzo sidewalk, it will mark not just a personal milestone for Muñoz, Martínez, and their bandmates, but also a historic moment for Tejano and Norteño music—genres that have traveled from small‑town Tex‑Mex dance halls to one of the most recognized cultural landmarks in the world.
As Intocable prepares for their next era—balancing arena shows, special appearances, and new music—fans can look forward to celebrating the group’s storied past and bright future both on stage and, soon, on Hollywood Boulevard.
