International recording icon Lisa López has released a newly enhanced version of her emotional Texas Country classic, “Wrong Time To Love You”—a song that originally captivated audiences in 1980 and now returns with even more resonance and refinement for a new generation of fans.
Produced by Rick Garcia, the original composer and a 2022 Country Music Association of Texas “Producer of the Year” honoree, the newly enhanced version blends traditional Texas Country roots with López’s unmistakable, soul-stirring vocals. The track explores timeless themes of love, missed chances, and emotional vulnerability—hallmarks of López’s signature style.
“This song represents a very personal journey for me,” said López. “It speaks to those moments when love arrives at the most complicated times in our lives.”
Lisa López rose to fame in the early ’80s with her groundbreaking crossover appeal, bridging Latin American and U.S. mainstream audiences with hits like “Si Quieres Verme Llorar,” which soared to #1 on Latin charts just one year after her debut. Her rise was historic—she became the first female Tejano artist to appear on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart in October 1981 and paved the way for a generation of powerhouse women in Tejano music.
López was part of a pioneering wave of female Tejano artists that included Chavela Ortiz, Patsy Torres, Laura Canales, Shelly Lares, Elsa García, and Selena. Her accolades include winning the first-ever Tejano Music Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year, Female Entertainer of the Year, and Song of the Year in 1982.
The renewed release of “Wrong Time To Love You” continues the artistic partnership between López and Garcia—two visionary artists committed to honoring tradition while innovating for today’s multicultural audience. Their work together builds bridges between genres, generations, and geographies.
As one of the most legendary voices in international Latin music, López’s return with this reimagined single underscores her enduring relevance and artistic evolution. This latest release is expected to resonate strongly with longtime fans while attracting new listeners across both country and Latin music scenes.
The newly enhanced “Wrong Time To Love You” is now available on all digital streaming platforms.
