Award-winning Tejano singer Angelica Alcocer and musician Tweet Juarez of Grupo Moneda recently spent time with a music therapy patient, who is a former accordion player. The pair donated their time for Music Therapy with The Medical Team, a gesture that moved the team to tears.
“On behalf of THE MEDICAL TEAM, we would like to thank Tweet and Angelica de Grupo MONEDA for sharing their talents with our client. We were moved to tears,” said Lucy Aldaba, Community Liaison for The Medical Team.
Angelica, who won Best New Female Artist at the Tejano Music Awards in 2022, shared the experience on social media, calling it a “Tejano Miracle!” She expressed her belief in the mysterious ways in which life works, revealing that their first Music Therapy client was a former accordion player. “Lucy called us and by some miracle, our first Music Therapy client was with a Former Accordion player,” she wrote.
The artists encourage anyone who knows a family or friend who could use some cheering up to reach out to them. The person doesn’t have to be a client of The Medical Team. “We shared this not for a pat on the back but to let you know we are here to help. It’s free,” added Angelica.
This heartwarming story underscores the healing power of music and the generosity of artists like Angelica Alcocer and Tweet Juarez. Their actions serve as a reminder of the positive impact that music can have on individuals, particularly those in need of a little extra joy and comfort.
