Rigo Navaira, the talented musician and singer who earned a Latin Grammy nomination for his work with his sister Destiny Navaira, has dropped a teaser for his debut solo single “Luna” on Instagram.
The 15-second clip features a catchy melody and Rigo’s smooth vocals, as he sings “Luna, luna, luna, no me dejes solo esta noche” (“Moon, moon, moon, don’t leave me alone tonight”).
The song is part of Rigo’s solo project, which he announced in November 2023. He said he moved to Mexico to explore his heritage and find inspiration for his songs, which will not be traditionally Tejano, but rather a blend of different influences from Texas and beyond.
“I think that music is becoming something that doesn’t need to be constrained by a genre. I like to tell people that my music is from Texas. Texas is a melting pot of musical influences. Pop, Rock, R&B, Country and Tejano. My music will stay true to my roots. Who I am, where I come from, and the experiences I have gained throughout my life. A new sound is my goal. Something fresh. Something that everyone can relate to and enjoy, not just Texas and Mexico,” he said in a previous interview with Tejano Nation.
The single is produced by Alfonso Herrera and under the Unimusik label, based in Monterrey, Nuevo León. “Luna” is scheduled for release on Friday, February 23.
Rigo is the son of Tejano legend Raulito Navaira and the nephew of late Tejano icon Emilio Navaira, who both influenced his musical journey. He also performed with his sister Destiny as part of the group Remedio, which won a Tejano Music Award for Best New Group in 2016 and Best New Male Artist for Rigo.
