Abraham Quintanilla addressed the people that feel he is profiting from the death of his daughter Selena, the “Queen of Cumbia” that has become a worldwide bicultural icon since her murder in 1995 at the age of 23.
Quintanilla shared his thoughts in part two of a two-part interview with The AC Cruz Podcast. “I say so what, let them talk. Dogs get old from barking, let them bark all they want to,” he said. “I know that in my heart and my mind and my family, we said from day one that Selena passed away that we were going to keep her memory alive through her music and that’s what we have done for 26 years. Selena right now is known worldwide.”
Mr. Q added Selena was recognized with Lifetime Achievement by The Recording Academy at the GRAMMY Awards earlier this year and named Greatest Female Latin Artist of All-Time by Billboard magazine.

Selena fans can also look for a new album filled with previously unreleased songs recorded by Selena in her teen years, which will be produced by her brother A.B. Quintanilla III.
