After more than two decades of bringing Tejano music to audiences across Texas, Mexico and beyond, Negami is expanding its brand from the stage to the kitchen with the upcoming launch of Negami Premium Tejano Seasonings.

Built around the motto “Music. Culture. Sabor.”, the new line brings together two traditions deeply connected to Tejano culture: music and food.

The Houston-based group is introducing three signature seasoning blends, each inspired by Negami songs and designed to add a distinct flavor to family cookouts, carne asadas and everyday meals.

Three Signature Negami Flavors

The first collection includes three 12.7-ounce bottles:

Dicen Por Ahí — Premium Meat Seasoning & All-Purpose Rub
Inspired by one of Negami’s signature songs, this versatile blend is designed for beef, chicken, pork and other meats.

“Dicen por ahí… que esta carne sabe diferente.”

El Tejano Enamorado — Sweet & Smoky Meat Seasoning
This blend combines smoky richness with a touch of sweetness for a sweet-heat flavor profile.

“Enamórate del sabor.”

Como Duele — Spicy Meat Seasoning
Featuring chile piquín, this blend brings a mild-to-moderate kick and is designed for those who enjoy some heat without overwhelming the flavor.

“Pica rico… como duele.”

The concept grew out of Negami frontman Carlos Villegas personal appreciation for the seasonings produced by Monterrey-based company Grill Kong.

During a conversation with Tejano Nation Radio host Romeo, Villegas explained that the idea began when Negami’s manager, Mike, became a fan of the product and started bringing the seasonings back from Monterrey for friends and family.

“He just started actually buying product and bringing it with him,” Villegas recalled. “And the next thing you know, he’s got all kinds of people asking him, ‘Oh, my gosh, what is this? What are you using?’”

That enthusiasm eventually led to a meeting with Grill Kong founder Alberto Cavazos during a trip to Monterrey.

“We met up with Alberto, and like, you know what? This is such a great product. It would be nice if we actually branded it for Negami,” Villegas said.

According to Villegas, Grill Kong offered to create three exclusive blends specifically for Negami.

“He said, ‘I can actually make three seasonings for you.’ They’re exclusive seasonings that are made exclusively for us so that we could actually brand it here,” he explained.

From Negami Songs to the Dinner Table

The connection between the seasonings and Negami’s music was intentional. The group selected song titles for the products, creating a direct connection between its musical catalog and the new culinary venture.

“We kind of decided to go ahead and make it official — blend the Tejano music, blend Negami music with the seasoning,” Villegas told Romeo.

For Villegas, the connection between music, food and family came naturally.

“You know what goes hand in hand? It’s cooking,” he said. “Even with family and music, you know, Tejano music. How many people do you know that cook and then they have that music going behind the scenes as you’re cooking and working up that meat?”

That idea became central to the new brand, with each bottle featuring its own story about the relationship between music, cooking, family and togetherness.

A Direct Connection to Negami’s Music

The seasonings also offer fans a shortcut to the band’s music.

Each bottle will feature a QR code that connects customers directly to Negami’s YouTube and Spotify pages, allowing fans to go from seasoning their food to listening to the music that inspired the product names.

“So that way, there’s no— that’s a shortcut to music,” Villegas said. “So we’re really super excited.”

The products are manufactured in Monterrey, Mexico, by Grill Kong, a company Villegas described as “Tejano approved.”

He also noted the strong connection between Monterrey and Tejano music.

“It is made in Monterrey. But as you know, there’s a lot of Tejano love, a lot of love for Tejano in Monterrey,” Villegas said.

The Negami seasonings are expected to be sold in both Texas and Monterrey, with the group initially handling sales directly.

Premium Ingredients With a Tejano Twist

According to the company, the seasoning collection will feature:

  • Premium ingredients
  • Low-sodium formulas
  • No MSG
  • Gluten-free formulas
  • Texas- and Mexican-inspired flavors

The collection carries the slogan:

“Made for Legends. Inspired by Tejano Culture.”

For Villegas, the launch represents a new way for Negami to connect with its audience beyond music.

“For us, Negami has always been more than just music,” he said. “It represents our culture, our families, and the memories we create together. Music brings people together, and so does food.”

From the Stage to the Cookout

Negami plans to initially launch the products online and promote them through the group’s social media platforms. Customers will be able to place orders directly with the group as the band gauges demand.

Villegas said the response from his own family has already been encouraging after they had the opportunity to taste-test the blends.

“I think before we even get our first batch, I think I’ve already sold it out to my family because I think they’re probably the biggest fans,” he joked.

The group is also looking ahead to opportunities for the seasonings at cookouts, tailgating events and other gatherings throughout the Houston area, including events surrounding the Houston Rodeo and football season.

Villegas said he hopes the products eventually find their way into stores, but for now, Negami is taking the new venture one step at a time.

“I’m hoping that people love it as much as I do,” he said. “Obviously, we did it because we like the product. I mean, we were fans.”

With Dicen Por Ahí, El Tejano Enamorado and Como Duele, Negami is bringing familiar song titles into a new setting—inviting fans to experience the group’s connection to Tejano culture around the dinner table as well as on the dance floor.

Negami Premium Tejano Seasonings are expected to launch soon. Official release dates, pricing and ordering information will be announced through Negami’s social media channels.
