Javier Galvan is hospitalized with serious injuries after the 51-year-old singer and radio host was involved in a fatal fiery crash near Winters, Texas on Sunday night.
A preliminary crash report from the Texas Department of Public Safety said an SUV, driven by Galvan, was traveling east on SH 153, while an SUV carrying five people, driven by Marisa B. Ramos of Plainview, was traveling west around 10:19 pm Sunday night. The posted speed limit in the area is 75 MPH.
Galvan tried to pass several vehicles and struck Ramos’ vehicle head-on causing the vehicle to catch fire, according to the report. Ramos, and two of her passengers, Cissy L. Ramos and Adalynn R. Muniz, 7, both of Plainview, died in the collision.
Galvan was taken to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene with serious and incapacitating injuries. Two of Ramos’ passengers, 9 and 12 year old siblings Kolbie and Keelie Ramos, were also taken to Hendrick Medical Center with critical injuries.
The report said Galvan was wearing a seat belt in the crash and it is unknown whether anyone in Ramos’ vehicle were wearing their seat belts.
The crash remains under DPS investigation. Tejano Nation will have more information as it becomes available.
