Bermúdez is a GRAMMY winner, four-time Latin GRAMMY nominee, ASCAP winner, film and Broadway actor, musician, singer and songwriter. Peña is also a Latin and American GRAMMY nominee, actress, singer and songwriter who has won numerous Tejano Music Awards and other accolades such as Premio lo Nuestro and Billboard. Both Obie and Jennifer have both worked with Tony, GRAMMY and Emmy Award winner, Lin-Manuel Miranda and other world-renowned producers and writers like Emilio Estefan, Rudy Perez, Kike Santander, and Sebastian Krys.
Recently, Peña received a substantial amount of recognition and ovation after her performance of the national anthem for the Canelo versus Saunders boxing match at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, with a crowd of over 73,000 and millions worldwide.
Bermúdez also impressed a sold-out crowd when he performed the Puerto-Rican anthem for the Cotto versus Mosley fight in 2007 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Obie Bermúdez and Jennifer Peña will open the door to their home in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Sunday (May 23) to share their passion for music and love in an acoustic style virtual concert from their living room. The couple will be making music history, uniting for very first time, delighting their fans and social media followers with their voices and melodies. The two have previously recorded and performed duets, but have never done a show together, combining their hits on one stage.
The idea for this collaboration surfaced during a live chat on social media, and a fan lovingly named the event “Nuestra Nota,” which clearly describes who the yare; they carry their own rhythm as one, not often concerning themselves with the lives of others. After 14 years of marriage, the couple accredits the strength of their marriage to God and His guidance to adopt this mentality for themselves and their family.
The Puerto Rican singer-songwriter, Obie Bermúdez says, “We are very excited to be able to share with everyone a bit of ourselves and our music virtually. The title of the show describes who we are personally and musically, and we want to give a glimpse into our world.”
Peña adds, “It will be a very special night, very organic. Planned, but unscripted, so prepare yourselves for our reality. We are very excited and ready to give our best for our fans.”
The couple will be accompanied by five musicians including two acoustic guitars, bass, piano and percussion instruments. Although the stage will be a space in their home, the professional production team and camera crew will ensure first class sound and visuals.
Some of the songs on the lineup include Obie’s hits, “Me Canse De Ti” and “Todo el año”; Jennifer’s hits “El Dolor De Tu Presencia” and “Hasta El Fin Del Mundo”; and a duet entitled “Todo Mi Amor Eres Tu” from Unity: The Latin Tribute to Michael Jackson, an album produced by Latin GRAMMY winner Tony Succar. The song has only been performed live once before as part of a PBS special in 2016. Another prepared exclusive is the debut performance of Obie’s latest single “Cuando Esto Pase,” which he co-wrote with fellow songwriter, performer, and musician David Rivera.
Bermúdez and Peña have planned what is sure to be a magical night in an intimate setting and harmonious blend of music and conversation intended to entertain and impact their followers, who have awaited this moment for quite a while and have continued to support them throughout their careers.
The virtual show, “Nuestra Nota” will be held on Sunday, May 23 at 8 p.m. (PR / EST) and 7 p.m. Central Time (Texas/Mexico). Tickets and more information are available at www.ticketplate.com.
