Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair 2021 has been postponed by the Texas Talent Musicians Association (TTMA) over concerns of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“Due to COVID-19, we have postponed Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair until further notice,” said Bino Gaona, Event Director for TTMA, in a statement to Tejano Nation. “We want to make sure we have the state and city of San Antonio approval as well. Plus, we want to make sure priority one is the fans’ and artists’ health. Especially with the second strand of COVID is suppose to be even worse.”
The annual four-day event, usually scheduled in mid-March, draws over 100,000 Tejano music fans and over a hundred bands to historic Market Square in San Antonio, Texas each year.
The event in 2020 was canceled after just one day when San Antonio city officials declared a health emergency that prohibited large gatherings of over 500 for seven days.
No date was given for the rescheduled Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair but Fiesta San Antonio was postponed until June by organizers earlier this week. Other San Antonio events including Fiesta Oyster Bake, the Fiesta Flambeau Parade, and the Battle Of Flowers Parade were canceled altogether hoping to return in 2022.
