Cortney drops romantic cumbia “Amor Secreto” for new single and music video

Cortney has come through for her fans and supporters once again! The singer released her new single and music video, “Amor Secreto,” on Nov. 25.

“Amor Secreto” is a dreamy love ballad and romantic cumbia. It tells the story of a love that can never be anything more than a friendship. To avoid scarring her emotions, this woman has no choice but to keep the desires of her heart, passion, and infatuation a secret. She yearns for him and doesn’t understand how they can only be friends.

“I feel like the current dating world is scared or too prideful to fall in love, so it’s easier to let that person go and keep the love for them a secret,” Cortney tells Tejano Nation. “I was excited about (the song) because of the storyline behind it. It was about an actual story that happened over 10 years ago. I feel like so many people can relate to it.”

Cortney has teamed up yet again with Slack Monster Studios and producer Severo “Sevy” Contreras for the single now topping the charts and getting a great response from the public.

“Sevy is so awesome to work with,” she said. “He is a great friend and mentor. He is also so easy to work with and understands the style that I want in my music. I will always accept any tips or help he gives me. He has over 20 years of experience in the industry so anything helps.”

Cortney credits the genius minds of Jesse Maldonado and Christina Marie Crowley, who both worked on this fantastic project.

“He and Christina Marie Crowley did an amazing job writing the song,” said Cortney. “Jesse had asked me to listen to the song and I loved it immediately. I stayed in contact with him throughout the process and he helped with understanding the story behind the song. I look forward to bringing more of his music alive and look forward to working with him in the near future.”

The video was directed and filmed by creative mastermind Ryan Bazan and the storyline of the song is vivified by the spectacular scenes interchanging through her fantasy and yearning.

A shift from an intimate setting with neon lights to a public place where it’s obvious she’s lost in thought about her secret lover. Certain scenes are so fun that they give the viewer a burst of energy and a cheerful vibe. 

The glamorous attire varies from a casual Texan look with a t-shirt, jeans, and boots as she strolls through town to an exquisite yet still conventional cocktail dress ready for a fun night out on the town.

“I chose to go with a more conservative but sparkly look in some scenes and a casual day look for the everyday scene so my fans can get a glance of who I am as an artist and my style as a person,” said Cortney.

The project was a collaborative effort that featured many top talents including producer Sevy Contreras, guitarist and accordionist Rosendo Villarreal, percussionist Manuel Maldonado, drummer Joey Sanchez, vocalist Joel Villarreal, and songwriter Jesse Maldonado. The project featured promotion from Rosie Allison and support from Cortney’s family as she works toward her debut album and growing music career.

“I do this to show my three boys that if you believe in yourself, nothing is impossible if you keep fighting for your dreams,” Cortney added.
