Prince Royce paid tribute to Selena during this RodeoHouston performance with a cover of “No Me Queda Mas” on Tuesday night.
The Latin superstar honored Selena with the iconic song as 51,826 fans held up their cell phones like candlelight on the 24th anniversary of the late Tejano icon’s rodeo concert performance at the Astrodome in 1995.
This isn’t the first time Prince Royce covered “No Me Queda Mas”, he sang it at the Selena MAC Makeup launch party at early in his career.
“In the beginning of my career, I didn’t have enough songs to do an hour show so I would sing a Selena song called ‘No Me Queda Mas’,” Prince Royce told Fox 26 Houston.
The official Twitter page for the late Queen of Cumbia celebrated Prince Royce’s tribute as well.
His performance came one day after Country star Kacey Musgraves covered “Como La Flor” during her debut performance to kickoff RodeoHouston on Monday night.
On Feb. 26, 1995, Selena broke attendance records at the Astrodome, with 64,831 fans attending her show, the @SelenaLaLeyenda page notes.
Prince Royce sings bachata, which originated in the Dominican Republic and combines dramatic, romantic lyrics with strings and percussion. He has been charming audiences for almost a decade since dropping his self-titled debut album in 2010 and is the first tropical artist to perform at RodeoHouston.
