A social media post on Monday put Tejano music fans in a frenzy after it mentioned that former Mazz frontman Joe Lopez would be at the 2019 Tejano Music Awards Fan Fair on March 15 in San Antonio, Texas.
UPDATE: The Texas Talent Musicians Association (TTMA) told Tejano Nation they will have more information about this story soon. Tejano Nation will have the latest details as they become available.
The Facebook post by Sandra Vallejo, manager of Lopez, said:
“2019 TTMA FAN FAIR

The post had some fans believe that Lopez would be performing at the annual event. According to Felix Mendoza of the Texas Talent Musicians Association (TTMA), organizers of the annual TMA Fan Fair, Lopez will not be performing at Fan Fair.
“As of now he is not making an appearance,” Mendoza confirmed to Tejano Nation.
Another source confirmed to Tejano Nation that Lopez will not be at Fan Fair, nor will be performing, but “we will be doing a video of him and play it during Fan Fair. His manager will be there.”
Lopez was released on parole in March 2018, after more than 11 years in prison for sex crimes. The co-founder of Grammy-winning group Mazz, has to wear an ankle monitor. According to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Lopez is under supervised parole through Oct. 31, 2026, and will have to register as a sex offender. His legal team is working towards exoneration.
“He is still dealing with some legal issues,” Mendoza added. “But if the legal are taken care of, he will be making an appearance but no performance as of now.”
