SAN ANTONIO – Rising new talent on the Tejano music scene will receive exposure during the Young Tejano and Conjunto Talent Night and at VFW Post 76 in San Antonio on Friday, January 15, 2016.
The free show, that showcases young Tejano and Conjunto artists, will occur monthly to give unknown singers and musicians an outlet to perform their craft in front of Tejano and Conjunto fans.
Young Tejano and Conjunto Talent Night is the brainchild of photographers Vic Gonzalez and Bobby Villela. The duo’s cameras very often capture many young, talented artists trying to break into the very tough and competitive music industry.
“The idea to have these young artists come together under one roof was discussed in detail and plans were quickly formulated to provide them a public forum to perform their music on stage,” Gonzalez told TejanoNation.
The first “Young Tejano & Conjunto Talent Night” was held in July 2015 and was extremely successful. Performers ranged in age from 12 years old and up. The event was so successful that many other artists both young and seasoned took interest and plans quickly went underway to have a monthly event. Diva Tequila of San Antonio and Hacienda Records from Corpus Christi offered to sponsor all future events.
Plans are already underway to expand this to other cities such as Corpus Christi, Houston and Dallas, to provide aspiring young artists with an opportunity to showcase their talent and help promote them through various use of media outlets.
Artists scheduled to perform at the January event include “La Tejanita” Marisa Cortez, former Tejano Idol contestants Gracelynnd Gomez and Jessica Mendoza, and more rising artists. See the full line up in the flyer below.
VFW Post 76 is located at 10 Tenth Street in San Antonio.
