Tejano newcomer Marcus Daniels released his debut album, My Tejana, on Wednesday (December 30).

The album consists of a variety of Tejano styles, including progressive, rancheras, Tejano country and few upbeat cumbias.

“It feels good getting this first one out of the way, sort of a relief and an awesome learning experience,” Daniels told Tejano Nation. “I had the opportunity to work with Gabriel Zavala, Demi Aviles and Sotero Sineceros, who produced six of the songs. Looking forward to everyone hearing the CD and also performing the songs.”

The most recent single from the album is the Zavala-produced Tejano country track, “My Tejana,” the title song from the album.

“Since the first time I heard Gabriel Zavala’s hit song ‘Luces’ I knew that I wanted to work with him,” Daniels said. “I recognized immediately how he was bringing something fresh and with a twist. As far as blending different genres and making it work, Zavala was the perfect choice for that.”

The Waco singer reached out to the award-winning hitmaker to work together on the production of “My Tejana”, a song written by Daniels.

“I jumped at the challenge of doing something I’d never done before. Like I said in other interviews, I’m a big Country music fan,” Zavala told Tejano Nation. “I’m very happy with the way the song came out.”

The first single from the album, “A Donde Vas,” was produced by Sotero Seniceros from Algo Suave.

The album is available for download now at TexSoundPublishing.com.

One never to rest, Daniels is already hard at work on his sophomore album.
