BROWNSVILLE, TX – Rising Tejano star Veronique Medrano signed with AMI Records Latin, an entity of AMI Music Group, on Thursday.
The record label, known as “the biggest little label in Texas,” will usher in it’s 15th year with the South Texas singer’s sophomore album.
“I am so overcome with emotion,” Veronique said in a press release. “We started on this journey, right here in Brownsville, two years ago. The team and I worked tirelessly to give the masses a musical experience that has a unique flair coming straight out of South Texas. We are indebted to everyone: family, friends, fellow musicians and the fans for making this a possibility. I’m so grateful to make AMI Records Latin my new artistic home, and can’t wait for all the music that is in store for us.”
Veronique’s debut album “Encantadora” was hailed a success when 6 months after its release she landed a finalist nomination for Best New Female Artist of the year at the 34th Annual Tejano Music Awards in 2014. It was also the first successful online crowd-funded album for an independent artist in the Tejano music genre.
“Veronique Medrano is exactly the kind of artist that we want on our label,” AMI Records Latin CEO Jonny Martinez said about her signing. “Her talent, determination and passion for Tejano Music will be enlightening to have on AMI Records Latin. We have complete faith in her vision and are anxious to work with Veronique on her innovative ideas.”
The 24-year-old singer is one of the few new female Tejano artists to have not only achieved success in music, but also in social media with her program #VinylViernes, as a co-host on Puro Tejano TV, and charitable work with the community at large. She is a graduate of Lopez High School in Brownsville, Texas and alumni of the University of Texas – Rio Grande Valley, receiving a Bachelor’s degree, in May 2013.
AMI Records Latin & Veronique Unlimited LLC will launch a nationwide radio/press tour to give millions of Latin music fans across the country the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the new face of Tejano. The promotion will run on all Latino friendly media outlets. To set up an interview or booking, call Norma Red at (956) 639-3440 or veroniqueunlimited@gmail.com.
