Ricardo Castillon Joins 46th Tejano Music Awards Lineup

Ricardo Castillon Y La Diferenzia are the latest performers added to the entertainment lineup for the 46th Annual Tejano Music Awards, bringing another celebrated Tejano act to the “Biggest Night in Tejano Music.”

The announcement adds another milestone to a year that has already seen Castillon recognized among the leading nominees for the 2026 awards. The singer is nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year, placing him among five finalists in one of the ceremony’s prominent categories.

Organized by the Texas Talent Musicians Association (TTMA), the 46th Annual Tejano Music Awards will take place Friday, November 13, 2026, at the Texas Rodeo Saloon in Katy, Texas, for the second consecutive year.

Ricardo Castillon and La Diferenzia: A Legacy in Tejano Music

Born and raised in Lubbock, Texas, Ricardo Castillon developed his musical roots at an early age, joining his family’s musical group at just 12 years old. He eventually emerged as the charismatic frontman of La Diferenzia, helping establish the group as one of the recognizable names in Tejano music during the 1990s.

The group’s sound blended romantic ballads with energetic dance music, connecting with audiences across Texas and beyond. Its 1994 self-titled album earned a Grammy nomination in the Best Mexican/Mexican-American Album category and featured popular recordings including “Si Lo Quieres” and “Linda Chaparrita,” both of which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Songs chart.

Another notable recording, “Mundo Sin Guitarras,” earned Song of the Year recognition at the 1998 Tejano Music Awards.

Following his success with La Diferenzia, Castillon launched a solo career in 1999 while continuing his connection to the group. He has maintained his presence on the Tejano music scene through performances and new music, including the group’s 2025 project Renacimiento del Phoenix.

Castillon and La Diferenzia continue to bring their signature sound and familiar hits to audiences, connecting longtime fans with a new generation of Tejano music listeners.

Ricardo Castillon Earns 46th Tejano Music Awards Nomination

The nomination adds to Castillon’s history with the awards. At the 43rd Annual Tejano Music Awards in 2023, Ricardo Castillon Y La Diferenzia received the prestigious Entertainer of the Year award. They also earned that recognition again at the 45th Annual Tejano Music Awards in 2025.
