AUSTIN, Texas — San Antonio-born singer, songwriter, actress and filmmaker Patricia Vonne is set to release her 10th studio album, My Heart’s Got A Mind of Its Own, on Friday, September 25, 2026.
A ninth-generation Tejana, Vonne continues to draw inspiration from the rich musical and cultural traditions of South Texas while pushing her sound across genre lines. The new album combines Texas roots rock, Latin music, Americana, Spanish-style flamenco and rock ’n’ roll, creating a sound that reflects both her San Antonio roots and her longtime Austin home.
Vonne describes her music as a fusion of spirited rock rhythms and Latin melodies, with the castanets providing a connection to the Andalusian musical heritage of her ancestors.
“My music is steeped in the rich cultural influences of my hometown of San Antonio which I channel into my high energy stage performances,” Vonne said. “It’s a fusion of spirited rock rhythms and Latin melodies that capture passion and resilience accentuated by the Andalusian instrument of my ancestors, the castanets.”
A Genre-Bending New Chapter
Recorded between 2025 and early 2026 at Smilin’ Castle Studios in Kyle, Texas, My Heart’s Got A Mind of Its Own was produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Rick Del Castillo.
The album’s title track was co-written by Vonne with two of her longtime musical heroes: legendary Fort Worth saxophonist Johnny Reno and acclaimed singer-songwriter Chris Isaak.
The project features Vonne on lead vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar and castanets, backed by a lineup of longtime collaborators and notable guest musicians.

- Jeff “Skunk” Baxter — guest musician

The collection moves through a diverse range of styles, including cumbia, bossa nova and roots rock, while maintaining Vonne’s distinctive blend of Latin and Texas influences.
Vonne said the title track represents the album’s larger theme: love.
“My Heart’s Got a Mind of Its Own relates to the album as a whole because the theme of the album is LOVE,” Vonne said. “Love is everything. Our feelings are multi-dimensional. Love makes us do things we question, and sometimes it only takes a pinch of crazy to get through it all. But in the end, there is also a beautiful madness to it. Love is the most important thing in life.”
Three Texas Album Release Shows
Vonne will celebrate the release with three official album release performances across Texas beginning on release day.
- Friday, September 25 — The Continental Club, Austin, 10 p.m.
- Saturday, September 26 — The Bugle Boy, La Grange, 8 p.m. The performance will also be available via live webcast.
- Sunday, September 27 — Jazz, TX at The Pearl, San Antonio, 7 p.m.
Tickets for the Continental Club show will be available at the door, while advance tickets for The Bugle Boy and Jazz, TX performances are on sale at the venues’ websites.
A Career Rooted in Texas and Beyond
A three-time Austin Music Award winner, Vonne has built an international career that spans music, film and the arts. She has performed at venues and events including the Montreux Jazz Festival, World Expo in Japan, John F. Kennedy Center, Grand Ole Opry and United Nations Headquarters in New York City.
Throughout her career, she has shared stages with artists including Chris Isaak, Los Lobos, Texas Tornados and The Mavericks, while collaborating with Texas music figures such as Charlie Sexton, Alejandro Escovedo, Joe Ely, Rosie Flores, Doyle Bramhall and Flaco Jiménez.
Vonne also toured as a member of Tito & Tarantula, the band featured in the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez film From Dusk Till Dawn. Her acting credits include Desperado, Four Rooms, Machete Kills, Spy Kids: Armageddon and Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, where she reprised her role as Dallas/Zorro Girl.
Her song “Traeme Paz” was also featured in Once Upon a Time in Mexico.
With My Heart’s Got A Mind of Its Own, Vonne continues to connect the musical traditions of South Texas with the broader sounds of roots rock, Latin music and Americana, bringing another chapter of her genre-fusing Texas sound to listeners on September 25.
