Grupo Visión Mourns the Loss of Jesse Medina Jr.

The Tejano and regional Mexican music communities are mourning the loss of Jesse Medina Jr., a member of San Antonio-based family group Grupo Visión, whose passing was announced by the band on social media.

According to information shared by Jesse’s former high school band director, the young musician died following an accident. Details surrounding the circumstances of the incident have not been fully released.

Grupo Visión shared the heartbreaking news in a tribute remembering Jesse not only as a bandmate, but as a beloved member of their family.

“Today we bid farewell with a heart full of sadness to a beloved member of our family, Jesse Medina Jr.”

The group described the profound void left by his passing and recalled the memories, smiles and moments they shared together as a family and band.

“Your music, your joy and your presence will always live in our hearts.”

The band concluded its tribute by referring to Jesse as their “little brother” and expressing hope that he would be received with open arms and granted eternal rest.

A Young Musician With a Passion for Music

Jesse was a 2020 graduate of Lytle High School in Texas, where his musical talent was recognized early in his life. His former high school band director remembered him as an exceptional young musician whose passion for performing was evident during his school years.

Following graduation, Jesse continued pursuing his passion for music alongside members of his family, becoming part of Grupo Visión and contributing to the band’s growing presence in the regional Mexican and Tejano music scene.

Based in San Antonio, Texas, Grupo Visión is a family-rooted group featuring twin brothers Jaime and Javier Medina. The band has developed a following throughout Texas and beyond with its contemporary regional Mexican sound, live performances, album releases and collaborations with Grammy-winning producers.

The band released notable tracks like “Con La Mirada Que Me Das” (a Spanish rendition of the Jonas Brothers’ hit “When You Look Me In The Eyes”) featuring pop-R&B singer Frankie J, “Te Necessito,” as well as work alongside accordion master David Farias on the album En Tus Manos.

For Jesse, performing with his family represented a continuation of the musical passion he had developed as a student.
