The 46th Annual Tejano Music Awards is adding two major names to its live entertainment lineup as Tejano legend Gary Hobbs and Houston’s Avizo join the performers set to take the stage at this year’s ceremony.
Known as the “Biggest Night in Tejano Music,” the 46th annual awards show is set for Friday, November 13, 2026, at the Texas Rodeo Saloon in Katy, Texas, marking the second consecutive year the prestigious event will be held at the Houston-area venue.
Organized by the Texas Talent Musicians Association (TTMA), the Tejano Music Awards are the longest-running awards program dedicated entirely to recognizing excellence and achievement in Tejano music.
Hobbs and Avizo join the previously announced performers Jay Perez, Siggno, and fast-rising Tejano star Jenny B, creating a lineup that brings together established veterans and a new generation of Tejano artists.
Gary Hobbs: A Tejano Legend
With a career spanning more than four decades, Gary Hobbs remains one of the most influential and recognizable voices in Tejano music.
The singer-songwriter, record producer and actor is celebrated for his powerful baritone vocals and emotionally charged performances. Often referred to as “Tejano music’s Vince Gill,” Hobbs has played a significant role in shaping the sound and evolution of Tejano music throughout his career.
Hobbs continues to remain active in the genre. In April 2022, he signed a multi-year recording deal with Corpus Christi’s legendary Freddie Records, releasing the acclaimed album Sin Fin.
Beyond recording, Hobbs maintains a strong connection with his longtime fans through his live performances and special events, including the annual Gary Hobbs Family & Friends Cruise, which brings together large gatherings of Tejano fans and performers.
His appearance at the 46th Tejano Music Awards adds another legendary voice to an already diverse performance lineup.
Avizo: Houston’s Powerhouse
Also joining the 2026 lineup is Avizo, affectionately known as “Houston’s Powerhouse.”
The Houston-based band is a charting, Grammy-nominated Tejano group recognized for maintaining the tradition of powerful live horn arrangements that have been a defining element of Tejano and Chicano music.
Founded in 1984 by trumpeter and bandleader Robert Dorantes, Avizo has spent more than four decades establishing itself as an important part of the Texas Tejano and Chicano music scenes.
The group has also become known for serving as a premier backing band for some of Tejano music’s most celebrated performers. Longtime lead vocalist Chris “GQ” Quiroga remains a key part of the band’s sound.
Avizo’s addition to the awards show lineup brings the band’s signature horn-driven energy to the Texas Rodeo Saloon stage.
46th Tejano Music Awards Set for November 13
The evening will begin with a Fan Zone red carpet at 4 p.m., artist red carpet from 5–6:30 p.m., followed by the awards presentation and live entertainment at 7:00 p.m.
Established in 1980 by the Texas Talent Musicians Association, the Tejano Music Awards were created to provide Tejano artists with a dedicated platform to celebrate their accomplishments and contributions to the genre.
Over more than four decades, the ceremony has grown into an annual celebration of the performers, musicians and industry figures who have helped shape Tejano music and its culture.
For most of its history, the awards were based in San Antonio, the city widely recognized as the “Tejano Music Capital of the World.” Throughout the years, the ceremony was held at prominent venues including the Henry B. González Convention Center, the Alamodome and the Tobin Center.
In 2025, the TTMA moved the main awards presentation from San Antonio to the Houston area, citing financial viability as a primary factor behind the change.
The 45th Annual Tejano Music Awards marked the first year at the Texas Rodeo Saloon in Katy. The organization will return to the venue for the 46th Annual Tejano Music Awards on November 13, 2026.
The final nominees are expected to be announced online soon, setting the stage for this year’s awards presentation.
