The unmistakable sound and musical legacy of conjunto great Enrique “Flaco” Naranjo will live on with the upcoming release of Una Vez Más, a heartfelt posthumous album celebrating the artistry, passion and originality that made him a beloved figure in Tejano and conjunto music.
Riojas Productions announced the project, which is set to arrive on August 28, following the July release of its first single, “Quiéreme Otra Vez.” Written by Tejano music legend René Serrata, the song is now available to radio and digital platforms.
The album carries a particularly emotional significance. Naranjo passed away on August 21, 2013, before he had the opportunity to hear the completed project. Another musician who contributed to portions of the album’s drum tracks, Darío Vicente Gonzalez, has also since passed away.
Despite the circumstances surrounding its creation, Una Vez Más serves as more than a collection of recordings. It is a musical tribute to an artist whose distinctive approach helped define his sound and establish his place in the conjunto tradition.
According to Riojas Productions, the project does not attempt to recreate or imitate another artist’s style. Instead, the recordings remain firmly rooted in the sound that made Flaco Naranjo unique.
His distinctive style, passion and originality are preserved throughout the album, giving longtime fans an opportunity to reconnect with the authentic artistry that defined his career while introducing his music to a new generation of listeners.
“Quiéreme Otra Vez” offers the first glimpse into that musical legacy, with additional singles from Una Vez Másscheduled to be released throughout the remainder of the year.
