Sammy Torres & The New Image Delay ‘Dame Tu Calor’ Release to Perfect New Single and Video

After months of anticipation surrounding their sophomore single, Sammy Torres & The New Image have announced that the release of “Dame Tu Calor” has been postponed as the band puts the finishing touches on both the song and its accompanying music video.

In a statement released Friday, the rapidly rising Tejano group from Lubbock said the delay is the result of “unforeseen creative circumstances” and is intended to ensure fans receive the highest-quality final product.

“Due to unforeseen creative circumstances, Sammy Torres & The New Image has decided to delay the release of our new single, ‘Dame Tu Calor,’ for a short period as we sharpen our sound to guarantee the best possible product along with a finalized music video that matches the vision and quality you all deserve,” the band said.

While the announcement means fans will have to wait a little longer, the group assured supporters that a new release date will be announced soon.

“We promise the wait will be worth it,” the statement continued. “We will have a new release date very soon, and we can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on with all of you! The best is yet to come!”

Committed to creating a signature sound

The delay reflects a philosophy frontwoman, songwriter, and U.S. Army veteran Sammy Torres has emphasized since the band’s formation: creating an unmistakable musical identity.

“Our mission has always been to create and develop our own distinctive unique sound that sets us apart and brings pride to the city of Lubbock,” the band shared. “We are honored to represent our city, our culture and our people through every note we sing and every song we create.”

That commitment has been a recurring theme for Torres. During a recent interview with Tejano Nation Radio host Romeo, she explained that standing apart from the crowd remains one of the band’s biggest goals.

“Our goal is to develop our own sound and not sound like anybody else,” Torres said. “I want people to hear the first notes of a song and know it’s The New Image.”

A bold step forward after “Capturada”

Originally scheduled for release on July 17, “Dame Tu Calor” follows the success of the band’s breakout debut single, “Capturada,” which earned strong regional radio airplay and helped introduce Sammy Torres & The New Image to audiences across the Tejano music scene.

The teaser released ahead of the planned launch showcased what Torres described as a more sensual and danceable evolution of the band’s sound.

“Ultimately what I wanted for ‘Dame Tu Calor’ was that it was a little bit more sensual,” Torres previously told Tejano Nation Radio. “It kind of told a little bit of a story.”

While romantic in nature, Torres intentionally balanced the song’s passion with accessibility.

“This one’s not really so much about love. It’s more of a sexy song,” she said. “But I also wanted it to be danceable and because I advocate for a lot of veterans and I still go to kids’ schools, I had to make sure it was still appropriate.”

Produced by Chris Calderon, the song also features guest performances by Aaron Holler on drums, Miguel Hernandez on bass, and Jesse Villarreal on guitar. Additional contributions came from Jeremy Ramos, Jai Sterling, Chris Rodriguez of Tejano Highway 281, and Tejano veteran Dee Burleson of Culturas.

The project also marks the band’s first official music video, filmed by Lawrence “DJ NDO” Casarez, another key reason behind the decision to postpone the release until every detail meets the band’s expectations.

Momentum continues despite delay

Although “Dame Tu Calor” has been pushed back, Sammy Torres & The New Image continue building momentum with a busy performance schedule extending through the end of the year.

Among the band’s biggest upcoming milestones is its first-ever out-of-state headlining performance at Eastern New Mexico University’s Hispanic Heritage Celebration in Portales on Sept. 25. The group will also perform at three jamaicas in two days at Seagraves and Slaton on July 22, and Littlefield on July 23.

The female-led ensemble has already made history as the first female-fronted Tejano group from Lubbock to earn widespread major award recognition, and expectations remain high for its next chapter.

Before closing its announcement, the band expressed gratitude to everyone who has supported the project during its development.

“We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the radio stations, DJs, fellow artists, and friends who have shown so much love by reaching out and supporting us and the new single,” the statement read. “A special thank you to the news outlets who have already covered our journey and upcoming single.”

For now, fans will have to wait a little longer for “Dame Tu Calor,” but if Torres and her bandmates are right, the finished product will be well worth the anticipation.
