Three-time Grammy Award-winning Tejano icon Rubén Ramos and acclaimed singer-songwriter and fiddler Carrie Rodriguez are bringing a special afternoon of live music, storytelling, and fan interaction to San Antonio this weekend with a free meet-and-greet and acoustic performance at Janie’s Record Shop.
Set for Saturday, May 23, 2026, the event will give fans a rare opportunity to experience two celebrated Texas artists in an intimate record store setting while celebrating the release of Ramos’ highly anticipated new album, Los Días de Calor.
The afternoon event will feature a live acoustic performance, photo opportunities, autograph signing, and copies of the new album available for purchase on-site.
For more than seven decades, Ramos has remained one of the most influential voices in Tejano music. Known affectionately as “El Gato Negro,” the legendary vocalist helped shape the modern Tejano sound through his signature fusion of conjunto, soul, country, mariachi, and border music traditions. His impact continues to resonate across generations of artists and fans alike.
Rodriguez, meanwhile, has built an internationally respected career in Americana and roots music through her blend of folk, country, Tex-Mex, and Latin influences. A gifted violinist, songwriter, and vocalist, she has collaborated with artists including Alejandro Escovedo, John Prine, and Lucinda Williams while helping spotlight Latino and Texas musical traditions on a global stage.
Together, Ramos and Rodriguez represent a powerful connection between the past, present, and future of Texas music.
The acoustic performance also supports Ramos’ newly released studio album, Los Días de Calor, which arrived May 8 through Cosmica Artists. The 10-track collection serves as a deeply personal reflection on Ramos’ life, career, and cultural roots while continuing the timeless sound that made him a Tejano pioneer.

The album was co-produced by Rodriguez and acclaimed producer and multi-instrumentalist Sergio Mendoza, known for his work with Calexico, Los Ángeles Azules, and Orkesta Mendoza. The project also includes contributions from Calexico members John Convertino and Jacob Valenzuela.
Fans attending the event can expect an up-close musical experience while connecting with fellow music lovers inside one of San Antonio’s most beloved independent record shops.
