Becky G delivered one of the most emotional moments of the night at the 2026 Latin Women in Music 2026, paying tribute to the late Selena Quintanilla-Pérez with a stunning performance of her timeless hit “Dreaming of You.”
Taking the stage in a sequined white gown and matching headscarf, Becky G leaned into the song’s dreamy emotion before elevating the performance with a powerful rock-infused finale, highlighted by a soaring guitar solo. The tribute honored Selena’s enduring legacy as a cultural trailblazer who embraced identity across languages and traditions.
“Speaking of dreaming, for all of the dreamers here and at home, I want you to know that the most important thing is to continue dreaming,” Becky shared in Spanish during her performance, inspiring audiences watching the Telemundo broadcast.
The night also marked a major milestone for the Inglewood native, who was presented with the Global Impact Award by friend and collaborator Natti Natasha. In an emotional acceptance speech delivered in Spanglish, Becky reflected on her purpose beyond the stage.
“Global Impact really makes me reflect on what my impact is,” she said. “I love what I do on stage, but for me, it’s also about what happens when the lights go out — how I engage with my community, represent my culture, and create space for the next generation while respecting those who came before me.”
Fighting back tears, Becky G credited Selena as a defining inspiration. “She showed us that we don’t have to choose between cultures or languages — that we can be all of them at once,” she said.
She also honored legendary activist Dolores Huerta, recognizing her decades-long fight for women and immigrant communities. “That kind of impact goes far beyond any stage,” Becky added.
Emphasizing authenticity, Becky described herself as “an imperfect, courageous, and dedicated woman,” proudly acknowledging her roots as the daughter and granddaughter of immigrants. “I deeply value opportunities and recognize my privileges, and it’s important to use them to help others who don’t have them,” she said.
Becky G’s career continues to reach new heights, with chart-topping albums like Esquinas (2023), Esquemas (2022), and Mala Santa (2019), along with major hits including “MAMIII” with Karol G, “Shower,” and “Chanel” featuring Peso Pluma. Her influence on the Latin charts includes multiple top 10 hits such as “Mayores” with Bad Bunny and “Sin Pijama” with Natti Natasha.
Hosted by Chiquis, the star-studded event also celebrated Rosalía as Woman of the Year, alongside honorees Gloria Trevi (Musical Legacy), Ivy Queen (Pioneer), Julieta Venegas (Artistic Excellence), Lola Índigo (Artistic Evolution), Young Miko (Unstoppable Artist), and Joy Huerta (Spirit of Change).
Closing her speech with a message to women and girls everywhere, Becky G left the audience with a powerful reminder: “Your voices matter. You do not have to make yourselves small. Just be you. We deserve to dream without limits.”
