Impozzible Announce Final Shows as Lawrence Torres Reveals Devastating MS Diagnosis

Houston-based conjunto band led by brothers Bobby and Lawrence Torres to disband after emotional announcement

HOUSTON, Texas — In an emotional and deeply personal moment, conjunto powerhouse Impozzible has announced it will officially disband following a series of final performances, as band co-founder Lawrence Torres continues to battle a worsening case of multiple sclerosis.

The announcement came during a heartfelt Facebook Live broadcast on Tuesday (March 17) from The Hangout in Houston, where the band performed a few songs before sharing the life-altering news with fans.

Accordionist and vocalist Bobby Torres addressed viewers candidly, revealing the severity of his brother’s condition and the difficult decision they now face after more than three decades together.

“So we’re here today because we do have a big announcement to make and it’s one of the biggest ones that we’ve ever had to make in our life,” Bobby said. “As you know, my brother’s been sick for a while with his MS… he’s been fighting and fighting… but it’s getting worse.”

Bobby disclosed that recent medical evaluations showed alarming progression.

“He got an MRI done… come to find out he has at least 15 to 20 lesions in his brain that are spreading… his speech is going to get worse, his memory… all that’s going to come,” he shared. “Rather than me being selfish and wanting him to continue to play, I gave him an option.”

That decision ultimately led to the end of Impozzible as fans know it.

“There’s no Impozzible without Lawrence. There’s no Impozzible without Bobby. Impozzible is Bobby and Lawrence—it always will be,” he added.

For Lawrence Torres, bajo player and vocalist, the moment was equally emotional as he reflected on a career spanning over 30 years with his brother.

“I didn’t think this was going to get better… it’s just getting worse for me,” Lawrence said. “This is all I got left… me and my brother have been together for many years doing what we’re doing.”

Looking back at their legacy, he added, “We had a hell of a run… but before it gets worse, we got to stop it.”

The Houston-based Tejano and conjunto group, known for its clean, hard-hitting sound, has released nine albums throughout its career and built a loyal following across Texas and beyond.

Despite the heartbreaking news, the Torres brothers confirmed they will complete their current run of shows, with several performances already scheduled in the coming weeks. They also plan to organize a major farewell concert within the next one to two months.

“It’ll be a big show—an all-day, all-night deal,” Bobby said. “We’re going to go out with a bang.”

After the final performance, Bobby shared that he plans to step away briefly to focus on family before eventually returning to music. Any future work under the Impozzible name, however, is off the table.

“I will not continue Impozzible without Lawrence,” he emphasized. “But I will dedicate the rest of my playing years to him.”

There is also a possibility that the brothers may continue recording music together in a limited capacity, though live performances will come to an end.

The announcement has already sparked an outpouring of support from fans, many of whom have followed the band’s journey for decades.

As Impozzible prepares to take its final bow, the legacy of Bobby and Lawrence Torres remains firmly cemented in Tejano and conjunto history—built on brotherhood, resilience, and a shared passion for the music that defined their lives.
