Texas Latino is honoring the artists who paved the way with the release of their powerful new album, Homenaje A Los Grandes. The 11-track project is the result of months of hard work, prayer, and teamwork, bringing together some of Tejano and Texas Latino music’s most respected voices for a heartfelt tribute to the greats.
Bandleader and producer Severo “Sevy” Contreras shared details about the album during a recent interview with Tejano Nation Radio host Romeo, explaining the vision behind the project.
“Our new album’s entitled Homenaje a los Grandes,” Contreras said. “It’s a little something that, you know, giving homage and tribute to some of the great talent artists that have paved the road for us.”
The album features an impressive lineup of guest artists, including Tejano icon Sunny Ozuna, Mario Montez of Romance, Cezar Omar, and Ricky Martinez. Contreras also revealed that one of the most meaningful moments of the project was recording with Ricky Martinez before his passing.
“I was fortunate to record him before he passed,” Contreras shared, noting the emotional significance of preserving Martinez’s voice and legacy on the album.
Homenaje A Los Grandes also pays tribute to influential songwriters and groups such as Juan Gabriel and Los Dudes, honoring the contributions of Joe Revelez and Anthony Hernandez. Alongside these tributes, Texas Latino stays true to its sound by including new material that reflects the band’s continued evolution.
“We also did some new stuff from Texas Latino, like always,” Contreras said. “We had already released one featuring Cezar Omar, No Vale La Pena, and then we released Ven a Darme Amor, a rendition of ‘Come and Get Your Love.’ And right now, we have the hit single, Quiero Amarte, which is number one right now on the Tejano Gold Countdown.”

Lead singer Gabe Rivera also took home Male Vocalist of the Year, while the group won Collaboration of the Year for “Pienso En Ti” featuring Monica Saldivar.
With Homenaje A Los Grandes, Texas Latino continues its award-winning momentum while showing deep respect for the artists who helped shape the genre.
Homenaje A Los Grandes by Texas Latino is available now on all major streaming platforms. CDs can also be purchased at select record stores, including Del Bravo Record Shop and Janie’s Record Shop in San Antonio.
