SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS — The 6th Annual Premios Tejano Mundial delivered a powerful celebration of tradition and evolution as Tejano music’s biggest names and brightest newcomers were honored Thursday, February 5, at the San Antonio Shrine Auditorium in San Antonio, Texas.
The evening reflected a highly competitive year for the genre—one that balanced legendary careers with fresh voices shaping Tejano’s future. Leading the winners’ circle was Ricardo Castillon Y La Diferenzia, who claimed Album of the Year for Renacimiento Del Phoenix, a project widely praised for its musical depth and modern edge. The group also dominated the Song of the Year categories, earning wins for Cumbia Song of the Year with “Preciosa” and Progressive Song of the Year with “Que Tropieza.”
Jennifer Peña was another standout, taking home Female Vocal Performance of the Year for “Atada,” which also captured Balada Song of the Year, reaffirming her enduring impact and vocal excellence within the genre.
David Lee Garza Y Los Musicales scored major recognition as Grupo/Duo of the Year and won Collaboration of the Year for “Haces Falta Tu,” a fan-favorite pairing with Pete Astudillo that bridged generations of Tejano music.
Siggno frontman Jesse Turner earned Male Vocal Performance of the Year for the emotional track “Vuela Madrecita” and was also honored as Social Media Artist of the Year, highlighting the group’s strong connection with fans in the digital era.
Behind the scenes, Eddie Perez was recognized for his technical excellence, winning both Producer of the Year and Engineer of the Year, underscoring his influence on today’s Tejano sound.
Among the night’s most notable honors, Bobby Pulido was named Entertainer of the Year, while 15-year-old Salomé Lopez emerged as a breakout star, winning New Artist of the Year and signaling a promising new chapter for the genre.

The ceremony also featured electrifying live performances by Conjunto Cats, Los Arcos Hermanos Peña, Elijah Ezequiel, Bianca Ruiz, and Los Heartbreakers, along with special tributes celebrating Tejano music’s rich legacy. Freddie Martinez and Roger Hernandez were each presented with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their lasting contributions to the genre.
Fans once again played a major role, casting votes in fan-selected categories, while industry honors were determined by voting members of the Academy of Tejano Music, the organization behind the awards. The Academy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to preserving, promoting, and advancing Tejano music for future generations. More information is available at academyoftejanomusic.org.
