David L. Garza Honors His Late Father With Heartfelt Debut Single ‘Llamada del Cielo’

David L. Garza’s debut single, “Llamada del Cielo,” is more than a song. It is a promise kept, a conversation with heaven, and a moment of healing shared through music. Deeply personal and profoundly moving, the track honors the memory of his late father and marks the beginning of a new chapter in Garza’s artistic journey.

Garza shares that “Llamada del Cielo” was born from a promise he made to his father after his passing. He recalls telling him that he would release an album and finally share his music, something his father always encouraged him to do. He waited a long time, wanting to honor his dad in the best way he knew how, through music.

The moment the song truly took shape came during a movie outing with his son. Spending one on one time together is something they make a priority, and during the film’s final scene, a character is given the chance to speak with a loved one who has passed on. Garza stayed quiet, holding back emotion, while his son teased him for tearing up. That scene struck deeply. He realized that everyone has someone they would give anything for, just a minute, even seconds, to hear their loved one’s voice again. That night, he went home, sat at his piano, and “Llamada del Cielo” was born.

Writing the song was an emotional process from start to finish. Garza describes his father as his hero, and every part of the song, the melody, the instruments, and the lyrics, came straight from his heart. The emotions had been bottled up for four years, and the song became a way to release them. He wrote it as if his father were calling him from above, reminding him how deeply he was loved and how that love continues to live on through every moment, every breath, and even in the quiet wind.

Above all, Garza hopes the song brings comfort. He wants listeners to feel that they are not alone, no matter what they are facing. Life can be heavy and difficult, but he hopes “Llamada del Cielo” feels like a hug from above and offers peace to those who need it most.

The most meaningful part of the song for Garza is the intro, which features a real voicemail from his father. It was a birthday message left just days before his father passed away on December 21, 2021. Garza’s birthday is December 23, and he did not hear the voicemail until months later. On a day when he desperately needed to hear his father’s voice, he went through old messages and found it. At the end, his dad says, “I love you forever.” Garza had never heard his father say those words before, and that single moment meant everything to him, a true hug from above.

Music has always been part of Garza’s life. He began playing drums at just two years old, learned piano at a young age, and started producing music around the age of 15. Growing up surrounded by music, with a father who was a music promoter and family members who also pursued music, the path felt natural. For Garza, music is about connection and leadership, the ability to reach people and impact their lives in meaningful ways.

As a producer, Garza draws inspiration from a wide range of artists and styles. His influences include David Foster, Brian McKnight, Juan Gabriel, Luis Miguel, and Alejandro Sanz, all of whom shaped his appreciation for emotional depth and musical excellence.

While releasing such a personal song can feel vulnerable, Garza says he was not nervous, just hesitant about how it might be received. Ultimately, he chose not to live with regret. He believes the song will find the people who need it most and sees it as the beginning of a new journey he is excited to share with the world.

Fans can expect much more personal storytelling in future releases. Garza says that about 95 percent of his music is based on experiences he has lived or witnessed. He is currently working on a full album featuring 10 original songs, set for release between mid February and early March. The project will reflect different moments of his life, and he looks forward to sharing his heart, promising listeners moments to dance, cry, and celebrate together.
