MIAMI, FL — Two-time GRAMMY and two-time Latin GRAMMY nominee Lupita Infante releases her moving new single, “Prenderte Una Vela” (“Light a Candle for You”), a touching homage to those who have passed on but continue to live in our hearts. Arriving just in time for Día de los Muertos, the song beautifully reflects the essence of the Mexican tradition — remembrance, connection, and eternal love.
The song was born during a Spotify songwriting camp for Música Mexicana in Los Angeles in October 2023, the same camp that produced Infante’s Latin GRAMMY®-nominated track “¿Seguimos o No?” Written alongside Alan Vegaand Agüita Tinta, “Prenderte Una Vela” is a sentimental cumbia that resonates with anyone who has experienced loss and continues to honor the memory of their loved ones.
“It’s a song for anyone who has lost someone and continues to remember and honor that person through the years,” shares Infante. “That person will always stay with you, in your mind and in your heart. That’s what ‘Prenderte Una Vela’ is about.”
The single’s cover art holds deep personal significance for Lupita. As the granddaughter of Mexican icon Pedro Infante and the daughter of Pedro Infante Jr., she channels her family’s legacy through every artistic choice. The artwork features a small engraved box representing a sacred space for cherished memories, surrounded by glowing candles that symbolize eternal light and guidance — a visual reflection of the song’s heartfelt message.
Rooted in Mexican culture, “Prenderte Una Vela” honors the traditions of October and November, when families light candles to welcome the spirits of loved ones back home. “The candles are the light that guides them back to us,” Infante explains.

The release comes as Lupita continues an extraordinary year. She is nominated for “Best Regional Song” at the 26th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards, standing as the only female nominee in the category. The recognition follows her first Latin GRAMMY nomination in 2020 for “Dejaré,” reaffirming her place as one of Regional Mexican music’s most powerful and promising voices.
Her Latin GRAMMY-nominated track “¿Seguimos o No?” appears on her third studio album, La Corona es Mía, released earlier this year. The 10-track collection blends traditional Mexican roots with a modern pop sensibility, showcasing Lupita Infante’s artistry, elegance, and emotional depth.
“Prenderte Una Vela” is now available on all streaming platforms.
