Rising Tejano star Jenny B proudly represented Tejano and Latin music on a major stage this past weekend, performing the national anthem before the Carolina Panthers game in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Sunday, October 5. Her stunning rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” took place just ahead of kickoff against the Miami Dolphins, captivating a crowd of over 70,000 fans in attendance.
In an interview with KSAT 12 anchor Stephania Jimenez, Jenny B reflected on what it meant to bring Tejano music and culture to such a prominent platform. “Actually, absolutely not. I felt right at home,” she said when asked if she felt out of place performing in North Carolina. “I wasn’t nervous. Even when we got out, and I can just see it now, like all those people that were there, it felt right.”
Jenny B shared that she hopes her performance helps bring more mainstream attention to Tejano music. “It’s just a matter of moving forward, the genre moving forward,” she explained. “That’s really what it’s going to take — being open-minded to new artists and new sounds within Tejano.”
A video of her performance, shared by a fan on YouTube, showcases Jenny B’s powerful vocals and poise on the NFL stage — a proud moment for Tejano fans everywhere. She added that one of her dreams is to one day perform the national anthem at a Dallas Cowboys game.
Jenny B’s debut album, Mujer Sensual, has been generating buzz across the Tejano scene and is expected to earn her a nomination for Best New Female Artist at the 45th Tejano Music Awards in Katy, Texas, next month.
Often hailed as one of the most dynamic new voices in Tejano, Jenny B is known for her high-energy performances, heartfelt vocals, and chart-rising hits like “Pobre Tonto.” Blending traditional Tejano roots with a modern pop flair, she’s quickly becoming “the next big thing” in Latin music — and her star continues to rise far beyond Texas.
